So apparently there's a new security feature. If you click around too much
in one store, you're locked out from all stores on the website. Unknown
for how long. It just happened about 30 minutes ago to me. All stores now show
the same thing.

its likely since you browsed to much and hit your daily limit. at daily maintenance

This has been around for several years already. It has been brought up in the
forum several times.
That there is a limit is understandable, unfortunately the limit is too low.

AFAIK the blocking is reset at the nightly maintenance.

Also don't clean your cache for Bricklink that way the browser doesn't
download as much data from the servers.

Indeed it could be shown as an error message instead of that that seems a bug...

It sounds like something to limit bandwidth consumed, and to likewise prevent
DDoS attacks. I know there are limits on API calls, and this may be something
to prevent using the web interface to circumvent the API limits.
