| Hey everyone! I recently opened a store and was wondering if anyone had advice
for getting your first sale as a Bricklink seller.
I've put my items on sale (50% off) just to try to get a first sale and get
a few reviews for my store. Do you think that people are less likely to order
from new stores? Or is it more likely to be a low number of items / lots?
I'd like to grow my store but would also like to grow it gradually as sales
come in.
Thanks in advance for the help

| yes its a combination of new store and an extremely small selection. buyers tend
to shop at larger stores so they can make the most of shipping so will generally
avoid smaller stores unless they have something that the larger ones don't
but looking at your store there doesn't seem to be anything super special
that would attract buyers so the only way to compete would be in price but even
with that unless you have at least a decent amount of parts that someone wants
they may still go to a larger shop. bricklink selling generally goes one of 2
ways. 1 you invest lots and lots of money into sets to part them out which is
not that much work but costs lots or option 2 you can buy used lots and spend
a lot of time listing them which is less $ investment but can be a huge time
investment

| I just ordered from your store. I hope it helps get the ball rolling. I think
once you have some feedback as a seller, it will help you get more sales. Also,
it takes a lot of inventory (variety and quantity), time, and patience.

I wouldn't promote your store until it is ready enough to get orders by itself.
If you promote a store that has a poor selection of parts, then you waste potential
future customers' time and they might well least favourite your store.

You have a very small store with little inventory. This will make it hard for
people to find you, and to find things they want to buy in your store.
It may help to provide more information about shipping costs in your terms.
Good luck

From my own experience, I only started to get regular orders after I reached
40,000 - 50,000 items in my inventory. As indicated by other responses You just
have to keep adding a LOT more items or add items that not many other stores
have. (NOTE: In my first year I only had 16 orders.)

| Research the prices of similar items on BrickLink to ensure your prices are competitive.
I would also appreciate if you give me a feedback, good luck on your store!

Research using bricklink. Feedback is related to orders.

| 1. Research the prices of similar items on BrickLink to ensure your prices are
competitive. Respond to inquiries and messages promptly. 2. Good communication
with your buyers can build trust and result in positive feedback. I hope this
helps you on your first sale and I would appreciate if you give me a feedback,
thanks.

| The only way to get that first positive feedback is by placing an order, actually
buying some LEGO - you can’t just offer some advice and be given feedback.

Thank you everyone for the feedback, this has been super helpful. It sounds like
I'll have to mainly focus on increasing the number of parts in my store to
attract new customers, and that the sales should hopefully follow.
And thank you so much to LotsOfBricks for the first order in my store!

You have a small store with little inventory. That will make it hard for buyers
to find you, and find something they want to buy.
I personally do not believe it is going to help to cut your prices drastically.
Increase your inventory.
It is ok to start small. That gives you some room to learn as you grow.
