| I’m uncertain whether a used set I have can be considered complete. The pieces
I have for the set are old light gray, but the Bricklink inventory says they
should be new light gray. Does this color difference mean that those pieces are
technically missing? I’ve listed the set as incomplete for now.

These are bionicle limbs and 7255 is the only set that has ever included them
in new light gray.

All parts have to be the correct colour for a set to be complete.

Put them next to some known old light gray elements, the difference will be immediately
noticeable if they are the new light bluish grey.

Which pieces look old light gray? This set is tricky, because some of the pieces
are pearl light gray, not light bluish gray. That might explain what you're
seeing.

It’s the Bionicle limbs being used as legs. Set inventory says they should be
light bluish gray. The piece has never been made in pearl light gray according
to Bricklink.

| I assume you mean these:
If you're not sure of the color, buy them and swap them out. They are inexpensive.
Set 7255 is worth some money complete:

The differences between light bluish gray and light gray are subtle and unless
you are very familiar with them you really need to compare them side by side
especially sense light bluish gray can fade to the point of making you think
they are light gray until you compare it side by side with a piece you know for
sure is light gray as ghyde suggested.

| Abd when comparing them, doing it under a bright light really helps - under a
dim light they can still look very close to the same.

I did that and it was somewhere in between the two. It may just be faded like
you said.

Post some pics and someone will identify the color in a short time. Putting it
in Catalog Identification topic will usually identify the part and color quickly
although it depends on how many users are browsing the forums.

BrickLink inventories do not normally have alternates for Light Gray and Light
Bluish Gray. It is possible for a set to have contained one or both colors during
the changeover years.

That piece was in only 3 sets in 2001 in light gray and then light bluish gray
in this one in 2005. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they had some leftover
light gray and packed it in this set. I would recommend calling it out in the
comments, but I think they can sell it.
