| DO you think Bricklink’s interface will ever be updated to make it more user-friendly?
It still feels like a very old-school interface. I thought when Lego bought
it, maybe they would update it.
Some things would be the ability to print out an inventory list in a simple way
that is not 500 pages long, more updated text features, etc.

Hello,
They are updating it, just not always in ways that you can see. It is my understanding
that they have spent the bulk of their time since taking over working on compliance,
tax, and payment issues. The next major project was badly needed upgrades to
the customer service system.
The site is incredibly complicated and does not respond well when something is
changed. I know it's not always obvious, but every inch of the Catalog, Marketplace,
and Store Inventories are linked and connected which means that no one page can
be easily updated without upsetting the balance.
Also, many of us prefer the old-school interface to many of today's modern,
spread-out, overly-bright designs, and so are hoping that things will not be
updated. Perhaps for every one of you who is looking for changes, there is
one of me dreading them.
Features like a better print interface would definitely be nice but have to fit
into the overall priority of what they fix. I think tablets and digital devices
are so ubiquitous, that many of us have ceased to print at all.
Just curious, what text features were you looking for? Something just within
the print interface?
Thanks,
~Jen

| No thanks. This is just asking for problems like the previous times they rolled
out major updates.
The people working on updates, especially significant upgrades, likely have limited
knowledge of the site's functionality including workflow that are important
to everyday users.
I vaguely recall losing valuable features in one of the past updates.

| I understand the potential significant issues with changes/updates, but it would
be nice to have an interface that was more user friendly, as in not needing to
know html coding etc. Was just curious and wondered about any plans. Thanks
for your responses.
Thank you to everyone who puts in so many hours to make this site so awesome.

You have to understand the oldtimers: they have been promised seller tools for
years, there were meetings and discussions, and they got a few page updates that
broke things and “XP” ( https://www.bricklink.com/r3/main.page ).
The page updates are continuing (and still break things from time to time) but
XP was a really bad surprise.
XP is (supposed to be) more modern, but it’s totally/only buyer-oriented:
— it uses another categorisation (the same as Shapes in Studio actually),
— there’s no way to manage your store there,
— and undoubtedly flaws I forgot….
And it was presented as the future of BL.
So the first reactions were very bad: Where our tools? What are you doing to
the catalogue!
And now, “scalded cat fears cold water,” “once bitten, twice shy,” and other
sayings
