| Good Afternoon Everyone,
Does anyone know if a seller can change an order to completed, have paid for
an order but haven't received yet, the order keeps changing to completed
even though it has yet arrived, every time I change it to shipped then log out,
next time I log on it says completed, even though I haven't changed it myself.
The original said shipped on the 27th August. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Jeff

Hi,
Some sellers do that. They shouldn’t, it’s for the buyer to say it’s completed.
And, at least, they generally wait for weeks & confirmation (tracking) that the
package arrived. Doing it multiple times is disrespectful.
Try contacting the seller and tell them to stop: you haven’t received the package
yet and it’s your prerogative to mark the order complete.
(If it happened to me, I’d be inclined to open an NSS just to prevent the seller
from doing it again. And they wouldn’t get a praise as feedback.)

| My terms say I will mark complete 7 days after tracking says delivered. So,
yes it can be done. A lot of newbies never come back on and even mark it as received.
I do it as I keep track of packages being lost in the mail.

Sincerely, you shouldn't; it's not the seller responsability to determine
if the order is Completed or not.
Simply file the shipped orders and forget them. You really don't have to
track what happens to each

I used to change status to completed after 1 month international 2weeks domestic
.
But since i now became aware of this i will switch to file instead.
I did not know this; and the indicator on orders going up was annoying.
But this file i checked instant makes it that it goes away.
So thanx for that!

A better choice would be for you to file these orders instead. Marking an order
Completed takes options away from a buyer. They can take as long as they want
to check their orders.

| It used to be only the buyer could mark it as Received or Completed. Why did
it get changed? I remember the older BrickLink, some parts of it should have
been left the way they were. If Dan was still around he'd have a fit. God
bless his soul, he knew the way BrickLink should have been set up and stuck to
it.
Cheers ...

| I can't find no valid reason for a Seller to say "This order I
shipped is now completed" (AND after 7 days or such the buyer can't change
this status!)
So, it simply can't be intentional.
It must be a bug.
I hope... really

How about the buyer leaves feedback saying "perfect, all parts present and
correct" or they message the seller saying the same or they message saying
the same and ask the seller to mark it complete. Even in those cases I'd
probably leave it but I can understand why some sellers might mark them complete,
especially if they don't understand filing.
Or was the double negative intentional, implying that there are valid reasons?

Leave it as is.
What's the difference between a buyer having never said anything or changed
the status after a full year, and a buyer who has set completed or told everything's
alright? Both are completed, whatever the status showns. In short, as a seller,
don't assume any status, don't touch it.

No, just an error, there isn't any valid reason for a seller to set it completed.

There is the green light saying there is an open order and the number of open
orders, if the seller doesn't understand filing. That is a reason a seller
(as in any seller) might do it. Remember not all sellers are educated when it
comes to filing, that is the root of the issue, combined with BL allowing sellers
to mark orders as complete.

This happened to me recently. I had not received the order and the seller marked
the order as completed. I wrote to the seller but did not receive a reply. Still
thinking about my feedback what it should be.
Only the buyer should be allowed to complete the order. Bricklink should think
about it. Personally, i never touch the status after i set the order to shipped
