Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 9782 Name: FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge 2000 - Volcanic Panic
*
9782-1 (Inv) FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge 2000 - Volcanic Panic
179 Parts, 2000
Sets: FIRST LEGO League

* Change 1 Part {Light Gray to Dark Gray} 3837 Minifigure, Utensil Shovel / Spade - Handle with Round End

Comments from Submitter:
The colour of the spade is wrong. Sources are scarce, but checking the instructions that are somehow online, it is very clear that the shovel is Dark Gray, contrasted to the Light Gray 2x6 plate. It gets extra clear in picture 3 with the plate right behind the minifigure:
https://rebrickable.com/sets/9782-1/volcanic-panic-challenge-kit/#parts

I would also speculate that the FIRST Lego League sets wouldn't have parts produced specifically for them - the shovel has never appeared in a set in Light Gray (which has caused several people to list the shovel for sale in Light Gray when that colour was in fact probably never released)

Nice catch! I always wondered about that shovel. I was especially suspicious
when I could not locate a LEGO element number for it (BrickLink PCC). This gave
me the final push I needed to remove it.

----------

This inventory was riddled with other errors, so I have gone ahead and fixed
them, too.

(1) The tires in the set should have been

Part No: 3483  Name: Tire 24mm D. x 8mm Offset Tread - Interior Ridges
*
3483 Tire 24mm D. x 8mm Offset Tread - Interior Ridges
Parts: Wheel, Tire & Tread {Black}
instead of

Part No: 2346 Name: Tire 30 x 10.5 Offset Tread
*
2346 Tire 30 x 10.5 Offset Tread
Parts: Wheel, Tire & Tread {Black}
Also, the quantity of the tires should have been 4x instead of 3x.

(2) The quantity of

Part No: 6064  Name: Plant Prickly Bush 2 x 2 x 4
*
6064 Plant Prickly Bush 2 x 2 x 4
Parts: Plant {Green}
should have been 16x instead of 14x.

(3) The Technic plates in the set should have been

Part No: 32001  Name: Technic, Plate 2 x 6 with 5 Holes
*
32001 Technic, Plate 2 x 6 with 5 Holes
Parts: Technic, Plate {Light Gray}
instead of

Part No: 3738  Name: Technic, Plate 2 x 8 with 7 Holes
*
3738 Technic, Plate 2 x 8 with 7 Holes
Parts: Technic, Plate {Light Gray}
Also, the quantity of the Technic plates should have been 2x instead of 4x.

(4) The quantity of

Part No: 3041  Name: Slope 45 2 x 4 Double
*
3041 Slope 45 2 x 4 Double
Parts: Slope {Red}
should have been 8x instead of 5x.

----------

The quantity of

Part No: 78c12  Name: Hose, Ribbed 7mm D. 12L / 9.6cm
*
78c12 Hose, Ribbed 7mm D. 12L / 9.6cm
Parts: Hose, Ribbed 7mm D. {Purple}
may not be correct, but I can't definitively say if it is wrong. It looks
like it should be 33x instead of 32x, but I have left that unchanged.

Cheers,
Randy

The inventory comparison tool says the official LEGO inventory has 33 of those
hoses, but there are also a ton of other parts not present in the inventory here.

When is this tool to be trusted?

When? It's not the tool, it's LEGO data. They have never been terribly
interested in cataloging or keeping track of their work. The LEGO data will never
be more than 'guidelines' not rules. It's just the remnants of their
production data.

I didn't even think of using the inventory comparison tool. (facepalm)

Since this is an FLL set, it probably did contain a lot more parts. The image
that we have may only be one part of the inventory cards that would have originally
come with the kits, and I wouldn't be surprised if the LEGO data for this
set is much more accurate.

This data comes directly from the LEGO Group, so it can only be trusted as much
as we would trust any other LEGO data. So I would say "a fair amount with
some reservation". In this case, the LEGO data is probably much closer to
reality than what we have.

It definitely says 33, not 32.
