| I’ve been looking into Canada Post postage meters, as they are discontinuing
the low denomination stamps that top up oversized letters between 101-500 grams.
The current promotion to rent a Pitney-Bowes SendPro Mailstation is $26.99/month
with a promise of “up to” $100 in free postage, 34% off Canada Post rates and
up to 68% off USPS rates, under 5 kg.
I’m wondering if any other Canadian sellers have gone this route and if so, how
was your experience? Did the discounts offset the rental of the meter? Was it
worth printing postage at home instead of going to the post office? For oversized
letters (not parcels) is there any better alternative without the small stamps?
Thank you!

I haven't used any type of postage meter, but I also do not use the smaller
denominations. I use a mix of the adhesive stamps that go over by a $0.05-0.10
but are well worth it for little hassle.
For example, 200g = $3.19, but I'll use the $1.94 lettermail stamp + $1.30
US stamp = $3.24. 300g = $4.44 with a $1.94 stamp + 2x $1.30 US stamps ($4.54).
Alternatively, if you ship enough to get a volume contract, you can look into
printing your own lettermail postage without a postage meter.

| Thanks Sarah! I had no idea that you could use the Canada Post US stamps for
Canadian shipping. I’ve just been buying panels of 25 cent and 5 cent stamps
to top up the $1.94. That’s likely a better option for me then.
I’m not nearly big enough yet to qualify for a volume contract! Maybe one day,
with luck 🙂

I do the same thing as well. Big time and tongue saver.

| Hi!
I'm just wondering if you have an official link or statement from Canada
Post to confirm that they're discontinuing the lower denomination stamps?
I looked around online to substantiate this, and other than a few comments on
Reddit and the eBay discussion forum, I can't find anything official to confirm.
I've got an assortment of stamps of varying denominations, down to $0.06
and $0.05, to cover the various weight tiers. If I knew for sure that these were
being discontinued, I'd load up on the small ones! They are regularly available
via the online Canada Post store, which is how I buy all my stamps.

| I don’t have anything in writing but I’ve had three separate verbal confirmations
from Canada Post employees. They discontinued the $1 stamp about a year ago and
the lower denominations are now following.
I just placed a large order online - after that I’ll decide about either the
postage meter or the US stamps.
