Hi,

Am I the only one or you, sellers, are also getting a lot of NPBs lately ?
Most of them just never answer and read the reminder emails that I send so I
initiate the NPB as soon as it is available after 5 days of no payment and no
answer.

I've had a few lately that decide to answer only after NPB is initiated saying
shipping cost is too high. What does it take to take 1 minute to answer an email
saying shipping is too high, I wish to cancel ? No they prefer to either never
respond and go through the full NPB process or answer at the last minute before
the end of the process which prevents me from finishing the NPB process.

And I cannot leave negative or neutral feedback to warn other sellers in the
latter case because they will certainly retaliate.

It seems there are more and more buyers acting this way (a tendency not only
seen in Bricklink but in everyday life with more and more people not showing
at appointments, etc.).

I wish Bricklink had a way of guaranteeing the seller would not get a retaliatory
feedback if he leaves negative feedback to warn other sellers when the NPB process
could not be completed.

Any advice on your side ?

Thanks for reading.

There is a way; implement auto-checkout and no NPB anymore, or maybe a couple
per year...

Otherwise:
* be kind (try to communicate)
* set the NPB (and allow buyer to pay, even late)
* if nothing happens, leave it up to completed, and then a Negative will be removed
if completed.

Thanks for your respons. It's just that I noticed this tendency lately of
buyers not taking their orders seriously and not realizing or caring that it
is a hassle for the seller to have items blocked for 1-2 weeks and getting no
answers from the buyers except sometimes a "Hey I'm not paying for that
shipping" around the end of the NPB process. When confronting the buyer asking
diplomatically why he did not contact me before, that I would have cancelled
the order on request, I get a "It's not that deep dude!"

Problem with the instant checkout is that parcel rate is so different from one
place in Canada to another that I just cannot implement it for parcel rate.

I tried doing it for all stages on lettermail rate (100g, 200g, etc. but most
of the time there were too many parts for a 200g rate and they wouldn't fit
in a single bubble mailer, and I would have to ship in two or more bubble mailers
which make me loose money on the shipping.

I just couldn't find any way to restrict the order by number of parts for
one bubble mailer to fit the corresponding rate. So I left the instant checkout
only for 100g or less.

Of course that may depend your Inventory "size", but I've never had
any problem to leave buyers up to a couple of months to pay... Don't be hurry?

If it's complicated, Maths could be a key.
Make a "flat" (flatter) price, and lose on some orders, but make a margin
on others.

Or something. In short, find a solution, don't wait for BrickLink to bring
you one

Hello,

I just clicked over to your store terms. It might help if you could give new
buyers a clear understanding of what to expect from shipping charges. I doubt
any of them would actually get to the bottom where your charges are explained
or be able to figure out the cost from what you have written. You've got
a lot of terms and a lot of warnings there.

You could encourage buyers to use the Request a Quote feature. Although that's
a bit tough to explain as it only appears on the last page of checkout.

Also, are you sending at least one payment reminder outside the BrickLink message
system? I find a direct email gets a much greater response rate than a BL message.

I do hope BL finds a way for Canadian stores to realistically use Instant Checkout!

I always leave negative feedback on NPB's to warn other sellers. I have never
received a retaliatory negative feedback. Most NPB's are people who placed
an order on a whim or as an experiment, and who never log on to Bricklink again.

The only reason an NPB can't be completed is if the buyer eventually pays.
Think of the NPB as a reminder. If the buyer pays in response, then the reminder
worked, so,, assuming all else was well, I don't leave negative feedback
in that case.

If I agree with the buyer to cancel the order, then I do not leave any feedback
at all, and I ask the buyer to do the same.

I don't know why people are not happy with your shipping costs. But you may
consider people may find it a bit extreme that you are charging them $1.00 for
a bubble mailer that costs about 30 cents.

I did not have any NPB for a while.

I have enabled the quote option for my store. This is a feature of Bricklink.
Using this, buyers can know in advance how much they would be charged for shipping
costs.

I checked your store and you have not enabled this nice feature. That can help
you get less non-paying buyers.

Quote feature is enabled for Canadian and US buyers. You have to go up to the
very last step of the checkout to see the request quote button

I see it now. It is possible people do ont see it and do not know it exists
because the default choice is "local pick-up".
I am not sure if you can make the default choice "Shipping". Maybe all
you know is to change the title of "local pickup" changed to something
starting with a letter that comes after "S" like T, X, Y,... so that
it comes in the list as the one after "Shipping ..."
