Most of you know that I have a passion for monorails, particularly 6990.

Set No: 6990 Name: Futuron Monorail Transport System
*
6990-1 (Inv) Futuron Monorail Transport System
692 Parts, 5 Minifigures, 1987
Sets: Space: Futuron

Sometime ago I came across a good few parts for the 6991 and then nothing for
awhile.

Set No: 6991 Name: Monorail Transport Base
*
6991-1 (Inv) Monorail Transport Base
555 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 1994
Sets: Space: Unitron

Always difficult to find but getting harder every year.

Came across these though last weekend, looks like I’m getting closer to finishing
it.

One of my regrets is only keeping enough track for a figure eight from a futuron
set I got in a bulk order. It was missing some of the base parts and I figured
I'd sell off the straight track and other parts to fund the purchase. At
least I still have a small working monorail, but I'm always keeping a look
out for the up/down and straight tracks.

I have five copies of 6347, one of 6921, and the track of 6990 that I hope to
list later this year. Currently they haven't gone through our quality control
since some of them may have discoloration and need to be cleaned.

So, what can you tell me about the construction of the 6990? In regards to the
1/4 dome panels platform. I had one years ago and recall the one half of the
platform rotating as it moved towards the track. I just got another 6990 and
followed the instructions and it does not work as drawn. Was there an instruction
revision to correct the error?
Thanks Ed

You are building it wrong?

See first video review on Brickset, by BrickTsar, at around 6min in, to see what
it should do.
You may also find 3D models around to see what’s wrong with yours.

Haven’t constructed mine for some time (years ) but I do remember there being
a bit of an issue with this on one occasion.

I think it was something that wasn’t mounted correctly / misaligned but my memory
is not great on that.

Never seen any revision of instructions.

Here is a Monorail video from a Lego fan convention BrickFair NE 2013. It was
a well-planned collaborative effort and truly amazing. More Lego monorails in
one place than perhaps anywhere else, ever.

Thank you, truly stunning, wish I had enough to build a fraction of this.
