| Hi is there a reason as to why gen001 appears in Set 10217 Diagon Alley yet is
not listed in the HP Section of Mini Figures , as opposed to gen013 and gen014
which are ???

| Because the later two figures are exclusive to HP sets, while the former is in
a variety of sets.

appears in 48 sets, of which only two are Harry Potter sets. The "gen"
stands for "generic" or "general" figure that does not really
have a theme.
only appear in one set, a Harry Potter one. And they really don't even occur
in that set since the instructions never show them being completely built. My
guess is they were numbered with the "gen" prefix because they were skeletons,
but they really shouldn't be. We are actually dealing with those exact two
minifigures right now in our admin forums.
Cheers,
Randy

According to the LEGO instructions the skeleton with the sand green torso and
arms is only shown receiving one arm and a black evil skeleton head on it.
There is a complete skeleton shown for the completely black skeleton shown on
the same instruction page. Both of these apparently get put into a tomb with
each other.
I don't know if TLG put the complete set of pieces in to build both skeletons
properly, but if they did, the extra parts need to be added as extras in the
BrickLink catalog entry for that set.
The partial skeleton might get considered to be listed as a partial minifig assembly.
Yes, I meant that sentence as typed, not a typo. I seem to recall a forum thread
about people wanting to sell the skeleton as either one type or the other at
the time of the set's release, on BrickLink. Listings for both variants may
have been created due to market demand, as super lots may not have been available
at that time.
In either case, if the parts for both skeletons came out of a sealed bag for
that set, they absolutely should be listed either as extra parts or as partial
or complete skeleton assemblies. In the case of the black skeleton, it is generally
considered to be a complete minifig for resale purposes, and if that still remains
the case, in this instance, then that should be added to that set's catalog
listing as such, otherwise it should also be listed as a complete minifig assembly,
since one has to assemble the black skeleton completely.
Just my 2c worth ...
Cheers ...
