Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 7582 Name: Royal Summer Palace
*
7582-1 (Inv) Royal Summer Palace
167 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 2007
Sets: Belville: Fairy-Tale

* Change 1 Part {Light Pink to Bright Pink} 50939 Belville Cloth Bed Veil - Medium, with Sparkly Stars Pattern

Comments from Submitter:
It's well-known "Light Pink" in this context is not a real color. We have one PCC for this part (which is also exclusive to this set), 4500112, already listed as Bright Pink. This is the last part needed to be moved out of Light Pink, what's the hold up?

I still think this one is kind of a slam dunk. It has bright pink in the set.
The holdup might be me, but I have been kind of waiting for some buyin. I have
a new picture ready for the veil. I also have a picture ready of the bunny skirt,
but haven't submitted it because I really don't think it is dark pink.
I attempted to change the princess skirt. Dark Purple is totally inappropriate
for it, but there isn't a perfect match.

All the information needed to proceed with inventory corrections is available.
Most of us know what we have to look for. We know what the transition year is,
we have possible sets with alternates, and we know which parts exclusively came
in the earlier Pink.

These cloth parts do not perfectly match their ABS counterparts. The Dark Purple
skirt could very well be either Lilac or Clikits Lavender, seeing as the latter
was still in use in 2007. I’m not sure when Lilac was booted off the palette,
but it was absolutely either at the end of 2006 or at the end of 2007.

I don't think cloth even needs to match the palette. They were probably
made by a 3rd party. They weren't using pigment from the bricks. They just
got cloth in a color that they liked that was available.

Lilac?

Regardless of what happens with paradisa pink, "Light Pink" in this context
just isn't an actual thing -- there is nothing to debunk there, no comparison
is going to tell us that it is "Light Pink", which just leaves Bright
Pink as what is era-appropiate. As mentioned, cloth may not even have an official
color assigned, which still is not much an excuse to assign a color that simply
does not exist...

I agree with you.

The thorns are that Bricklink Admin do not want to make the Bricklink color "light
pink" be the LEGO color "Light Pink". And if they don't, what
IS "light pink"? Just delete the color? As is, the skirt IS pink that
is light. If it really is going to remain a color and not be tied to a LEGO
color, that would make it a good spot for a skirt that isn't really Bright
Pink to be.

N/A is not a bad idea. BL Admin also told me that Rust would be solved in June/July
of last year, which has the same issue in that parts are assigned to a color
that does not exist. Still waiting on that email, Russell.

Catalog and Inventory admins who actively interact with inventory and color experts
should be given more authority to come to conclusions regarding non-colors like
this. The color simply needs to be repurposed, and doing so would not be difficult.
After all, it only appears in 36 parts across 17/18 sets.

Ultimately I agree and hope this will happen. I do have sympathy for the argument
that people can't tell Light Pink and Pink apart and it would create a mess.
But we have some messes like that and manage them. I ordered a pink part last
week and I got BRIGHT pink. A trained eye can do that one pretty easily, but
people still mess it up. Light gray and Light Bluish Gray can be hard and can
be impossible in yellowish light. Brown and Reddish Brown are easy to mess up.
Medium Orange and Bright Light Orange are easy to mess up. As a collector I
would like to see Light Pink standing on its own, but thanks to a tip, I was
able to find all or almost all the Light Pink I would collect in one set, so
I'm probably good.

Maybe some day we need some umbrella colors like we need umbrella parts. Where
someone who wanted something *Pink but didn't care if it was Light Pink,
Pink, or Bright Pink could see all listings side by side and someone who wanted
to sell and couldn't tell could list it there where it wouldn't show
up in any of the specific colors.

I have the item and can take pictures. But pictures are going to be of limited
use. There is nothing comparable to take a picture with it.

I had changed it to Bright Pink, but my boss changed it back immediately after.
You will have to take it up with him now.

Cheers,
