Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 8209 Name: Future F1
*
8209-1 (Inv) Future F1
49 Parts, 1998
Sets: Technic: Model: Race

* Change 1 Part Red {731c01 Technic, Shock Absorber 6.5L (Undetermined Type) to 731c06 Technic, Shock Absorber 6.5L - Soft Spring, Standard Coils}

Comments from Submitter:
I have two of the 8209 sets, that both have the "Technic, Shock Absorber 6.5L - Soft Spring, Standard Coils" part in red. I have a "normal" spring part as well and can confirm it's not the normal one but the soft one.

Can you tell the source of these sets. Did you buy these sealed?

Thanks,
Diana

Hi Diana,

No I bought these used. Would be something to find these sealed though 😀. they
come from different sources.

To be honest, I don't have much experience with these Shock Absorbers and
I have no idea when a normal, soft or hard spring is used or if they are used
random. But looking at the timeline both springs you mention were used in 1998.
In that case I would prefer more evidence, not based on used sets. And yes, I
know sealed ones are hard to find.

But maybe my colleague admins know more about these shock absorbers?!

I own the set 8209 with all original parts (it's in my childhood collection),
but I'm somewhat reluctant to make any changes because of
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=307293&nID=1297573

But please don't ask me when I might have the time to look into this.

Please excuse the poor condition of the stickers.

For reference: My set was bought new and not mixed with any other sets that have
a red shock absorber.

Yeah sorry, but now you can keep your set sealed for the next 20+ years.

Nah I’ll still open it up to confirm as I don’t have any other use for it and
it looks like the box is not in the best condition
