Since all sets from 2016/2017 where these older minifigure are listed in, are based on parts list or box picture, I prefer to replace them. If the old variants are ever found in a sealed set, they can be added again.

I can't find any info on education sets anywhere. So I don't know how
long certain sets are produced. I also don't know when the oval eyes minifigures
appeared. But the image on the package show the old minifigures, while inside
are the new ones with oval eyes.

If there's anyone out there who knows when the eyes changed, please say so.
There's a 4-digid code embossed on the bottom of the package, but I can't
read nor photograph it

Thanks,
Diana

I believe the eyes changed around that time period, so there is definitely a
chance that it could have come with the old figures. However, I think you have
handled this situation correctly, as there is not a lot of available information
on Education sets.

Cheers,
