Please change the name of Minifig (sw0457) to “Imperial TIE Fighter / Bomber
Pilot, Jumpsuit Folds and Plain Legs (Silver Stripe, Writing, and Trim on Helmet)
- Male, Black Balaclava Head with Nougat Face, Stubble and Grimace”; the request
form cuts off the last part, and since I am on mobile right now, I cannot use
the Inspect Element feature to do it myself. 😕

Minifig No: sw0457 Name: Imperial TIE Fighter / Bomber Pilot

sw0457 (Inv) Imperial TIE Fighter / Bomber Pilot

Is there a reason we need names this long? Why do we need to describe the body,
the helmet, the head, etc. all in the name? I think TIE Bomber Pilot is fine.
I was fine with the Clone Trooper changes, but this seems like overkill for a
minifigure name.

Cheers,
Randy

We need names with this much differentiation/detail, since LEGO has made a number
of different versions and renditions of TIE Pilots (many of which share parts).
The names need to be standardised, searchable, and able to differentiate between
Minifigs. (Also, no TIE Bomber Pilots have appeared on-screen; LEGO just called
this one, because it was included in a set with a TIE Bomber.)

In my opinion, the Item Names of named character minifigs such as this only need
enough description to distinguish them from a similar item. What is the one
feature of the minifig that is different from one it can be confused with? It
is not necessary to name every detail, just the relevant ones.

While the helmet is unique, it is similar enough to other TIE Pilot helmets to
be confused for another; the torso is shared with another Minifig, but that one
has printed legs (also, this torso is similar to another TIE Pilot torso, with
only a few minor differences between them). Furthermore, in terms of standardisation
and searchability, “Imperial” and “TIE Fighter” need to be in the name, so that
the Minifigs can be grouped together and found with a 1-2 keyword search.

If I search for a TIE bomber pilot, I get one search result. I don't know
why it is necessary to go into the extreme detail you are going into, as it shares
no name details with any other figure. Plus, if you are going over 150 characters
for a minifigure name, you are doing something wrong. We are a LEGO commerce
site, not a Star Wars pedant site, so we need to be cautious about going into
such enormous detail for the average user. Please stop submitting any name changes
until we reach a decision on what to do.

Cheers,
Randy

That is true, but if you were to see this Minifig and try to look it up, or if
you wanted to look at all TIE Fighter Pilots, you may not know to search for
a TIE Bomber Pilot - This is the same reasoning behind having “Clone Trooper”
in all Clone Minifig names, even if it makes the names a bit unwieldy at times.

Please stop submitting any name changes until we reach a decision on what to do.

It is not a grimace, it is a rakish smile. I don't really see why you'd
use different words to those already in the catalogue for parts. Even then, as
long as the description is long enough to distinguish it from other similar figures,
it seems unnecessary to describe every part of a minifigure.

Also these (as with TIE Pilots, there have been a LOT of different versions of
Stormtroopers, and we need a way to search for them and tell them apart effectively
(particularly as LEGO continues to change the design!)):

Shoulder Belts (Dark Blue Vents and Dotted Mouth on Helmet) - Male, Black Balaclava
Head with Nougat Face, Stubble and Grimace”.
