| Just came across a seller who has given out 108 neutrals to buyers for not marking
their order complete. Sounds like a complete psychopath to me.

| I noticed that you give retaliatory negatives when receiving neutrals, so...foot

And I don't leave retaliatory feedback. I leave true feedback about how I
feel when the entire transaction is complete. If someone jumps right to a neutral
or negative feedback without contacting me about a problem, you are darn right
that is going to leave me with a negative feeling about that person and transaction.

| I agree with this. If a buyer gives an undeserved neutral or negative and/or
doesn’t communicate about any problems, then as a buyer they deserve less than
positive feedback so other sellers can be aware.

| Undeserved in whose opinion? I feel it is more than reasonable for a buyer to
expect their order be correct and shipped in a respectable amount of time. Anything
other than that, regardless of whether you fixed any issues, may have failed
to meet their initial expectations and thus they gave a truthful feedback. What
I look at more than negative feedback left from a buyer is what feedback that
seller left in return, or how they replied back. Tells me everything I need
to know. As for Mr. 108 neutral feedbacks for buyers, he was added to my stop
list long ago.

| Mostly agree with what you said, but just as an example, my one neutral was from
a buyer who just decided to give out a bunch of neutrals to various sellers on
the same day for no reason. I responded with a neutral because my overall experience
with him as a buyer was neutral at best based solely on undeserved feedback.
You could view it as retaliatory, but completely deserved retaliatory in my opinion.

The thing is neutral and negatives to a buyer does nothing, it just matters if
it gets to -1 or below.

| Mostly true, but if a seller sees negative comments about a buyer’s behavior
from a trusted seller, they may decide to take preventative action and block
the buyer to save themselves a possible headache down the road.
I really don’t understand the philosophy of expecting a seller to leave the buyer
feedback as soon as they’ve paid. That’s not the end of the buying/selling experience
by a long shot.

I've seen this argument made a bunch of times and while I agree that an order
isn't over until all parties are satisfied (or reached an acceptable compromise),
this behaviour shouts "I'm a glass-half-empty kind of person".
There is nothing stopping you from changing your feedback if something goes wrong,
so the only thing that's accomplished by not leaving feedback is a weird
feeling left for the buyer which can range from "this seller doesn't care
about his customers" to "this seller is blackmailing me".
My life experience, not just on Bricklink, is that glass-half-full people are
easier and more pleasant to deal with, but that's just my opinion...

I agree that the transaction isn't over until completed by both parties.
However, I switched to leaving feedback after payment a while ago. I believe
I have more to gain by praising my buyers right away than not.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need this silly feedback system because everyone
would play by the rules. However, we don't live in a perfect world. The purpose
of the feedback system is to weed out bad actors, and as long as it serves that
purpose, it makes no difference who leaves feedback first or when.

leaves it.

| This is why I say the seller should leave feedback when either:
- the buyer marks the order complete
- the buyer leaves feedback
When one of the two happens, the seller knows the order is complete.

If I get a negative, I'll contact the buyer about it. There's been few
times where it was just a misunderstanding and they changed it to a positive.
I doubt a retaliatory negative feedback would've gotten the same result.
Neutrals don't bother me much. I'll usually leave those alone unless
I feel like it's misleading in which I'll contact the buyer and calmly
explain my side. If they decide not to do anything about it, I don't let
it bother me and usually leave a positive feedback for them.

Buyers can always check feedback (received and left) before buying and avoid
stores doing this.
