The BrickLink catalog team has reached a consensus on this matter.
The new LEGO "Medium Brown" will be going into the catalog as "Medium Brown".
The color formerly known as "Dark Flesh" for most of BrickLink's existence
and then more recently renamed to "Medium Brown" only a couple of years ago will
be renamed to "Light Brown".
We feel that the newest color should definitely have its own place, and that
it will cause the least amount of confusion for all to have it named what LEGO
has named it. This then obviously requires the old color name to need changing.
"Light Brown" was settled on for two main reasons:
(1) The "Light" token has been used extensively in the past for colors on BrickLink
to differentiate tones.
(2) The official name for the color by LEGO is "Brown".
Therefore, "Light Brown" respects the heritage of the history of BrickLink colors
as well as the heritage of the LEGO name for it. Since the color is technically
lighter than BrickLink "Brown", it also works nicely in the system.
The changes to the catalog will be completed over the next few days to install
the newest color to the LEGO family.
Thank you for all of the discussion in the forums concerning this matter. The
team really appreciates it.
Cheers,
Randy

I suppose that you know that the name "Light brown" was used by LEGO for "Fabuland
Orange"

While I support the consensus to include the new LEGO "Medium Brown" in our catalog
as "Medium Brown", I would prefer not to use "Light Brown" for the old colour.
That would replace the problem (although to a retired colour).

The solution is much more about making sure modern colors are useful than making
sure that old, rare, outdated, and retired colors are useful. As long as a one-to-one
correspondence is kept in tact, it could be called "Dog Poop".

Ok. Rose brown it is

I get it and I won't start a fight. It does seem confusing to me, though.
The new Medium Brown is a little lighter than the new Light Brown.

| I'm not a huge fan of the name they chose for old Medium Brown, but I gotta
say, I'd much rather have this than simply naming the new color Nougat Brown.
There's just nothing nougat about the new color. At least old Medium Brown
is... lighter than something 😁
