Can anyone help identify these cape colors? I know the picture is going to make
it hard to identify, but I have four different shades of purple going on here.
Cape #3 is most likely Dark Purple but options for the other capes would be light
purple, purple, or violet.
Then with the browns - I believe the one on the left is reddish brown, how about
the one on the right - Brown or Dark Brown?
Thanks a bunch.

The issue you're experiencing, is that the catalog pics need some attention.
Some are misleading. That said, it' difficult to offer certainty, given the
lighting used to take the pic (daylight or natural light is best) but I'll
try...

As to the first row: the second in the row is in fact not Purple as the catalog
pic might indicate, but rather Light Purple. Found in one minifig (had a mountain
of them)

Minifig No: hp060 Name: Albus Dumbledore - Light Nougat
*
hp060 (Inv) Albus Dumbledore - Light Nougat
Minifigures: Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban
The last cape in that row is Violet. Found in a couple of early Harry Potter’s

Minifig No: hp051 Name: Harry Potter - Gryffindor Stripe Torso, Dark Bluish Gray Legs, Lilac Cape
*
hp051 (Inv) Harry Potter - Gryffindor Stripe Torso, Dark Bluish Gray Legs, Lilac Cape
Minifigures: Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban
The second row, you seem to be on target with reddish and dark. Though some of
the earlier Browns were very dark: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1311335

Many of the catalog's cape pics are lacking. In other words, look beyond
the catalog pics for color ID. Again, it's a longstanding issue of misleading
color representation.

When taking a picture (using a smart digital camera) it may try to fidget
the colors to where it thinks they should be. The best way to keep that from
happening, is to make a little color spectrum bar (think a 1x6 plate with six
1x1 plates on it, each in a different basic color) and tuck it to one side of
the photo. That will keep the smarts on the right track.

This photo might give us a reason to edit some Harry Potter sets with 'Violet'
capes. Do you know where some of the purple capes came from?

The third cape on the top row does appear to be Dark Purple.
The second cape is Light Purple.
The fourth cape is more than likely Violet (came in Harry Potter sets around
2001).
The first cape may or may not be Medium Violet. (It should be noted that Medium
Violet contains several colors, one of which appeared in about five or so parts,
one being this cape: https://brickset.com/parts/4227827/mantle-for-mini-figure).
Bricklink did not separate the 2004 cape into 'Medium Violet'.

The 'Violet' cape came in four sets, and three of them were released
in 2001, then one in 2004 (which might actually be Medium Violet). The cape from
2004 may be the one on the far left (the Medium Violet color). Knowing which
sets they came from would definitely confirm their colors, though.
