I've updated my color guide and thought I'd share.
Not 100% complete yet, but it certainly has progressed.

The last picture is the setup I have for it connected to my shelf and easily
removable for quick access.

Fabulous!

so I take it that there is not one part that comes in all colors?

I was hoping to find at a color chart with all the same element in all the colors
for sale. I like the example shown here. The online computer screen version is
not so helpful to me personally,
someone could create and reproduce for sale this kind of collection. I would
want to buy one...
some of the colors I have not ever seen except online.

thanks for posting!

Nope, definitely not. But here is the list of which parts come in the most unique
colors:

I used 1 x 2 footprint because it gave me more options to fill it in with both
1x2 and 1x1 size bricks. I could have done an even larger footprint, but I was
trying to keep my guide compact for easy reference.

You can easily make one yourself. It wasn't too hard. Sourcing the pieces
and creating the labels took the most time. I am curious how much someone like
yourself would be willing to pay for a pre-made guide like this. I'm not
planning on selling any at this time, but I am curious.

Damn, seems that my 2x4 brick collection for reference colors is already outdated
before it's complete (1 missing)

Thanks for the link!

What I noticed: Even if I have a color reference in bricks (e.g. Light Gray /
Light Bluish Gray), it's still hard to find the difference on other pieces
like bars, technic parts, etc.

Oh, and I hate "Flat Silver" vs. "Pearl Light Gray" (parts that can come in both
colors). I usually don't list those parts and collect them in a bag for later

I'm with you. It's usually easy to distinguish two flat parts, but accessories/weapons
are much harder to gauge between Flat Silver and Pearl Light Gray.

I love that.

PS: are trans-purple really that blue?
