I need some help about discolored white new parts.

How is it possible that new white parts are not really white any more?
I have part out some brand new sets (straight from the box) some months ago and
I sold some white parts. Now I get the question from the buyer that the parts
are not really white. I have stored the parts in a drawer where there is no sunlight.
How is it possible that the parts are not really white any more? is it a factory
mistake or is it the dark drawer ore what else.
Can any body help me what the problem is.

I've seen the same, especially on bright light blue. Parted out less then
6 months ago, but I have to write them off already as they are turning slightly
yellow. They are in a closed drawer, and the room has no direct sunlight.

It's a bit disappointing to see how quick these colors change on a quality
product.

I find that some White is a stark bright white and some White is a warmer yellowish
shade right out of the box. This color variation isn't the same as what happens
to white when it's left out in the sun. I believe it is more of a problem
with production such as happens with Reddish Brown and some other colors. Maybe
a color expert can weigh in on this?

Yep, “they are not really white” isn’t really precise.
Some is due to age but some is simply because TLG’s quality control on colours
has never been good (and I find the “warmer shade” to be a bit pinkish ).
And all we get is “we endeavour to be better in the future.”

Seriously thinking of avoiding selling white in future, seeing colour changes
fairly quickly for some new pieces.

I've separated all my basic white parts in translucent white (modern) and
opaque white (older) just to avoid these color differences. The translucent white
is slightly warm yellowish, while the opaque can be whiter and prone to discoloring.

The only times that I have seen real bright white, those parts happened to be
non-LEGO. So yours should be just normal.

I added this to my Terms due to the color variations.....

"Color Variations: My parts come from sets that are 7 to 15 years old
or older and may not perfectly match newer parts. Lego colors are not consistent,
most notably Whites and Blues. I endeavor to ship orders with consistent colors,
but due to the age of some of these parts, some may appear “aged” compared to
newer parts. Parts that are obviously yellowed are noted in the description."
