From sealed set contents, Catawiki 29351443.

Since I don't know anything about the blue 12V train era (This set is exactly twice my age! ) I hope someone else can help here:

- Should the wheels with gray rims be alternate parts?
- What is the wire with two connectors for? The photo shows it with 1x bb0236ac01 and 1x bb0093ac01, but the catalog image shows 2x bb0236ac01.

Since I don't know anything about the blue 12V train era (This set is exactly twice my age! ) I hope someone else can help here:

It's a bit before my time as well

  - Should the wheels with gray rims be alternate parts?

If I remember correctly someone did write something about the transition between
the two colors of rims in another change request for a set from that time. Probably
Reza because he knows a lot about these older train sets. I'll have to look
it up when I have some more time.

  - What is the wire with two connectors for? The photo shows it with 1x bb0236ac01 and 1x bb0093ac01, but the catalog image shows 2x bb0236ac01.

Probably for when you use the motor to build a car instead of a train. You can
see that the set includes the necessary wheels and tires for that. The train
track contact base is used to connect to the conducting rails when you use the
motor for a train, but when using it is a car you'd need a wire with two
connectors to connect it to the transformer. It appears that transformer 740
needs the bb093ac01 connector while the bb0236ac01 connector would go in the
motor.

Based on that it seems that the wire with two different connectors should be
correct for this set, but I am not familiar enough with the sets from that time
to be completely confident about that. Especially when the box art shows a wire
with two connectors bb0236ac01. So I would appreciate input from people more
familiar with these sets from the late 1960s.

Maybe I know a lot, but I still feel I know nothing about these old sets

Based on what I know so far, TLG started to produce trainrims in black since
1969. I won't be surprised if I learn they produced them in 1968. -Maybe
they first used all their light gray ones in 1968 and then used the black ones
in mid 1968.) But based on my current knowledge and evidence, they produced them
since 1969 and I think we can remove the light gray ones for these set and any
other set released between 1969-79.

I have photos of three sealed copies, all coming with black trainrims. See photos
attached. We can read the production dates of motors as follows:
28 7 69 (source: Bluxe) See photos 2 and 3
23 2 69 (source: Facebook) See photo 4
25 7 69 (source: from a Lego collector) See photo 5
16 2 70 (source: Catawiki) See photo 1

This gives a good evidence that we can remove light gray trainrims (but there
is still a tiny chance that the very early releases came with light gray ones.)

I think the catalog image is taken from a Lego catalog. It shows also 1x bb0236ac01
and 1x bb0093ac01 but in the image we can only see bb0093ac01
|p=bb0236ac01]
from its side so this is why it looks like bb0236ac01

Part No: bb0236ac01 Name: Electric, Connector, 2-Way Male Rounded Narrow Type 2 with Hollow Pins

Correct. This is what TLG did with other Lego train accessories or even Lego
trains. See for example the inventory of

Set No: 122 Name: Loco and Tender
*
122-1 (Inv) Loco and Tender
96 Parts, 1969
Sets: Train: 4.5V

Yes, it is correct. This set comes with two wire/connector assemblies. These
changes can be accepted but based on the photos that I have on my PC, it seems
the length of the two wires are different. Moreover, then length of wires, the
name of the items and maybe even the item should be changed! We still need to
wait until the catalog admins can have free time for the project map for wires
then we can make better changes for these sets.

Thanks for your reply. Based on your research we can remove the wheels with light
gray rims from this inventory. They can always be added again if someone finds
evidence that they were included in some very early releases of this set.
