The actual color here is a tossup between Sky Blue and Medium Azure, but I'm going with the older color.

Medium Azure wasn't around back then.

Right, but this piece isn't either color. It is similar to both and I just
went with Sky Blue because they might plausibly have been trying to match to
that. I don't think I have seen this plastic in this color before.

Well, we know that different plastics take on different properties for the same
"color". The only two colors similar to Medium Azure back then were Sky Blue
and Maersk Blue. Since this isn't a Maersk set, I doubt it would be Maersk
Blue. That leaves Sky Blue. Post a picture of it.

I have already submitted this pic as sky blue to go with my inventory request.
I slid sliders the best I could to match the piece and I did not nail it, but
this is the best I could do.

Actually it occurred to me to just do this. The lighting isn't so controlled
and this picture actually looks more perfect than reality does, but you can see
that it is a pretty good match.

Wow, the color in the two images is so completely different. I was going to say
the first image you posted looked like Aqua, but the second one you posted definitely
looks like Sky Blue when next to that Sky Blue icon (even though they both look
much darker than Sky Blue in the photo, almost like Dark Azure). Have you ever
tried taking photographs in diffuse daylight instead of trying to adjust for
your very artificial light conditions? I seem to get the most realistic looking
colors when I do that.
