Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 10030 Name: Imperial Star Destroyer - UCS
*
10030-1 (Inv) Imperial Star Destroyer - UCS
3106 Parts, 2002
Sets: Star Wars: Ultimate Collector Series: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6

* Change {31 to 30} Part Black 4592c03 Lever Small Base with Light Gray Lever
* Change {17 to 16} Part Light Gray 4592c03 Lever Small Base with Light Gray Lever

Comments from Submitter:
The manual shows only 30 and 16 items used, that +1 is already as extra included.

and you are right. Thank you for finding this mistakes in the inventory. These
errors are there since 2005 (sic!)

(Just wonder there are so many SW UCS collectors and nobody notice it earlier
)

Black 4592c03 occur in instruction:
p.40 -1x
p.46 -1x
p.48 -1x
p.54 -1x
p.123 -1x
p.146 -1x
p.156 -2x
p.158 -2x
p.166 -4x
p.175 -2x
p.180 -2x
p.183 -4x
p.184 -8x
So 30 there are

Light gray 4592c03 occur in instruction only on page 200 (8x) and 201 (8x), so
16 there are.

I think I know why we have these numbers in this inventory. When you carefully
study inv change log for this set https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?itemType=S&itemNo=10030-1&viewDate=Y&viewStatus=1
it can be notice that extras of these two parts were added on Sep 9, 2005 (also
in the same change request were changed quantities of 3 other extras, I will
return to them). But after that no other changes for those levers so it seems
that initally this set was inventoried with extras of them in regular section
but after addition them to extras quantities of those levers were never reduced.
Why I think so it is the case. Look what happened with magnets in the same time.
Changed to 32 then were added two extras and quantity reduced to 30 and again
extras changed to four and quantity in regular reduced to 28. So here when quantity
of magnets in extra section was changing also quantity in regular was adjusted.
But it was never done for levers and instruction confirms that.

Now let's look at other two changed extras quantities in the same date:
black

Part No: 2780 Name: Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
*
2780 Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin
extras changed from 1 to 2
and blue

Part No: 4274 Name: Technic, Pin 1/2 without Friction Ridges
*
4274 Technic, Pin 1/2 without Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin
extras changed from 1 to 2
Here also quantities of them weren't adjusted after change of extras quantities.
So could there also be a mistake? the same as in levers?
Why there could be? Let's check parts count for this set. On box there are
clearly 3104 parts stated, it is best visible in this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-5Hc-T9xXg
(I attached also screeshot). We have now 3108 parts in this inventory. After
this change when we reduced quantities of those of levers we will have 3106 parts
so we are still 2 too many. So there could be still similar mistake in these
pins I think Also it is interesting that this set don't have this one
extra (very common extra part as an extra):

Part No: 3673 Name: Technic, Pin without Friction Ridges
*
3673 Technic, Pin without Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin
(but as I check not all sets from 2002 have it as an extra).

So anybody volunteer to check whole instruction of this set to count this

Part No: 2780 Name: Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
*
2780 Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin
(154 to count)
and this part

Part No: 4274 Name: Technic, Pin 1/2 without Friction Ridges
*
4274 Technic, Pin 1/2 without Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin
(219 to count)
and maybe also this one

Part No: 3673 Name: Technic, Pin without Friction Ridges
*
3673 Technic, Pin without Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin
just to be sure

(I will try to do it but in no predictably future, when I find finally some free
time when nothing to do )

Last thing inventory of this set was confirmed from sealed set content btw but
there are still mistakes at it occured

Are we sure there aren't two versions of this set?

Brickset has the part total listed as 3096, but that could be wrong. Also, Stefaan
checked the set against sealed set contents but only made one change (to add
an alternate). Hmmmm...

Cheers,
Randy

There are versions with color changes from old grays to new grays
check the note in the database
"The early production runs of this set featured Light Gray elements but subsequent
production runs have contained varying mixtures of Light Gray and Light Bluish
Gray elements."

This set wasn't found to be redesigned during production.

P.S.
The problem with this set is color swap it is mentioned here https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1111011
why alternate section in it looks like that

Hi

I bought this box here on BL when the auctions were still alive (was in 2008).

I did a part out (all parts in my set no longer the old grey but the new grey),
got a lot of work ~never understood why no 10030-2 was created with the new grey~

Still a few left over parts and believe it or not but did not see that alternate
part at that time, so found it in 2014 and did the change

Wasn't it the case that there were found copies of this set with mixed colors
in seald set. That could be the reason. (The note says about it)

Stefaan

What about part count in this set can you comment it? These levers count, pins,
extras etc.?

Thanks Stefaan for your message.

Hi

Yes, there was also a mix with the old and new grey (but my set came with the
new grey (for dark and light).

Can't help with the part count/levers count, pins etc... only a few parts
from this set in my stockroom (like the blue inverted slops )

But why were (a few) LBG parts added as alternate parts?

They are an exception, only "orphaned" parts were added to this inventory as
alternates, see here

p.180 -2x
p.183 -4x

I read this review https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/43195-review-10030-ucs-imperial-star-destroyer/
Looks like done from sealed set content, first owner.
  I purchased my copy of the Star Destroyer from S@H

There are some interesting informations:
1) Parts count 3104
2)

  Unfortunately, there are also a good half dozen or so mistakes to be found in the instructions. These mistakes can range from the wrong quantity of parts in the piece call-outs, to parts not being placed in the proper spot and there being inconsistencies between steps

3) Reviewer count most numerous parts (I attached photo from this review), the
only uknown is if there are extras counted.

First hypothesis that extras are counted
- levers black 31 (if we count regular plus extra in our inventory 30+1 we have
the same number)
- levers gray 17 (our inventory 16+1)
- black pins 155 (our inventory 154+2, so we have mismatch 156 with extras or
154 without)
- blue pins 220 (our inventory 219+2, so we have mismatch 221 with extras or
219 without)
If this hypothesis is correct quantities of black and blue pins should be reduced
by one, then we also match with box parts count.

Second hipothesis that extras aren't counted
- levers black 31 counted in the set plus our 1 extra should be 32 then in the
set (but then were is one attached in the instruction)
- levers black 17 counted in the set plus our 1 extra should be 18 then in the
set (but then were is one attached in the instruction)
- black pins 155 counted in the set plus our 2 extra shoud be 157 in the set
- blue pins 220 counted in the set plus our 2 extra shoud be 222 in the set
Problems with this hipothesis black and blue pins quntities in this case we also
have then wrong but when incrising their numbers we mismatch with parts count
on the box.

Problems in testing these hipothesis:
- completly new MISB set should be bulid according to the instruction, these
parts counted before the build and what left after the build.
- if there are mistakes in count of parts used in build steps, parts wrongly
attached etc. (mistakes unknown for me) so how to proceed with our guidance for
extras then ("These are spare parts that are not used in any model and are not
included in official parts lists or part counts") maybe there are possibilites
that some of these current extras just weren't showed in the build by mistake

I konw I possibly complicated simply problem with this inventory

Question is then is the parts count correct on the box and should the inventory
match with it?

I read this review today, also. A couple of notes below.

  3) Reviewer count most numerous parts (I attached photo from this review), the
only uknown is if there are extras counted.

I don't think the reviewer actually counted these parts. I think they took
the numbers from BrickLink (most likely) or somewhere else. Why? For instance,
if you zoom in on the photo and count the light gray levers, there are only 16
of them there but the number says 17. Therefore, I don't trust any of those
numbers or whatever they are supposed to mean and it renders both of your hypotheses
below unable to be proven from this review.

  First hypothesis that extras are counted
- levers black 31 (if we count regular plus extra in our inventory 30+1 we have
the same number)
- levers gray 17 (our inventory 16+1)
- black pins 155 (our inventory 154+2, so we have mismatch 156 with extras or
154 without)
- blue pins 220 (our inventory 219+2, so we have mismatch 221 with extras or

Do not artificially try to match the part count on the box. Errors in these numbers
are known to exist. The inventory really needs to match what is in the actual
building instructions and what came in the box. Then, if the numbers happen to
match, hooray! If they don't, it is not the end of the world. This is a huge,
complicated set that may need some time to understand the mistakes in the instructions
and how the piece counts really play out.
