I approved these requests, but this part:
needs an inventory and may not, once inventoried, be the correct part for this
set. The set inventory contained the blue connectors with hollow pins and the
photo of the part appears to show the connectors with cross-cut pins.
At this time I don't see the wire with blue connectors with hollow pins in
the catalog.

I can affirm from my set that the blue connectors are hollow pins. I disengaged
the ones connected to the sound sensor, but because of the age and fragility,
I'm hesitant to disconnect them from the electronic system.
138-1 is one of our most treasured sets because of a 'haunting musical'
experience. My son and I were setting up a train display in a school band hall
that was scheduled for remodeling in a few weeks. There were some students using
the adjoining practice rooms. We had been working on the 138 engine, but it
was sitting idle for a few minutes. All of a sudden it started moving, then
stopped, then moved again and stopped.
It turned out that the person practicing on a piccolo had hit just the right
notes to be picked up by the sound sensor. We invited her to try again, but
she wasn't able to make it move from inside the display room.

Interesting story! I've never heard one of those Lego whistles, but I
imagine the tone wouldn't be as harsh as a piccolo in close proximity (the
piccolo, like most modern band instruments, was designed to be played outdoors).
The intervening walls may have altered the tone sufficiently to match what the
sensor was seeking. Or, perhaps the band was playing in harmony. Does the whistle
blow multiple pitches, like car horn?
