To Jennifer (Inventory Admin) - This should be handled exactly like set 42026-1.
See the inventory note in that set and then change the 42027-1 inventory accordingly
to match the extras of that set.

Randy

The issue that comes up when parts like these are deemed "extras" is what happens
to the buyer of a used set that sees the ad for the combined online instructions
and wants to build it? With the part(s) listed as "extras", a seller can sell
a set as "complete" without those parts, and the "complete" set fails to deliver
what is promised.
Many, if not most, modern Technic sets have the alternate model instructions
listed only online for practical reasons. But that doesn't mean that the
electronic form of instructions are any less binding than a printed copy. All
the parts necessary to build ALL official set models (both primary and alternate,
both with instructions and those only pictured on the box) should be listed as
Regular parts. This is the standard that has been set for years on BL, and it's
the only way to ensure that buyers can fully enjoy the complete sets they purchase
here.

I agree totally. I was just testing you.
In all seriousness, I did not think it through after doing the research. It took
me a bit of time to even find out what that piece was to be used for, as the
official instruction book that I had didn't even show the part being used
in the build anywhere or mention what it was to be used for.
In fact, LEGO has a special FAQ just for this set and the one it combines with!
https://www.lego.com/en-US/service/help-topics/bricks-and-sets/themes/technic/extra-piece-in-racer-42026-42027
In the end, though, you are correct. All of the parts, whether alternate or not
should be moved out of the extras section.
Cheers,
Randy

Hello,
I understand fully your conversation about this "extra" part and also the description
on the LEGO page.
Anyhow I would like to add my suggestion for parts like this. In my opinion all
the parts from the inventory in the instruction should be listed at Bricklink.
Think about the situation that someone is buying this used set and also the other
used set at Bricklink to combine both (with the downloaded instruction). This
person will be really disappointed because the part(s) for the combined set is
missing.
For sure it's tricky to know all extra parts for older sets without the parts
list in the instruction. But I think for the newer sets all parts from the parts
list should be listed as regular items.
Best regards from snowy Black Forest,
Oliver.
