| Please make changes to the following inventory:
* Change 4 Part Black {3003 Brick 2 x 2 to 3003old Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports}
* Change 6 Part Blue {3003 Brick 2 x 2 to 3003old Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports}
* Change 6 Part Red {3003 Brick 2 x 2 to 3003old Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports}

| If the entry 'Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports' is to stay in the
catalog, please change the code from '3003old' to e.g. '3003b'
to better represent the very new trans-colors of 2x2 bricks! (which also have
no inside supports!)

There were people on both sides of this issue, and we had to make an executive
decision. So we have decided to retain the "3003old" Item Number, and as a consequence
this entry will *not* be used to represent transparent pieces in newer inventories.
The 3003old entry was accepted into the catalog as a logical extension of 3001old
and 3002old:
Without the "old" in the Item Number, the entry would not successfully fill this
role.
Regarding the transparent colors - sellers are free to list them under 3003 or
3003old, independently of the way we have decided to use them in set inventories.
I personally list them under the 3003old entry because it gives the listings
a little more exposure to the collector market.

Now that is a strange thing. A clearly visible difference is allowed to be just
ignored. Also inventories of new sets will be done incorrectly on purpose? I
really fear that these choices are gonna bite back many years later.

The 3003 entry can stand for either type, just as it did before 3003old was created.
There was no marking for deletion or creation of a specialized "with supports"
entry.
And since *all* trans-colored 2 x 2 bricks so far have been found to have no
supports, there is no real point of insisting on a disctinction in inventories.
If you see a trans-colored 2 x 2 in a 2014 set (or really any set), it is going
to be the type without supports. It's the only way they are made.

| Ok, I should rephrase that: So, when inventorying a new set with trans 2x2 bricks,
the '3003' will be assigned even though a better fit (the '3003old'
is in the catalog.
The reason you give is a sophism. (Had to look that word up in a dictionary...)

an argument apparently correct in form but actually invalid
I fail to see what part of my argument is invalid.
Some people don't want to see a part called "3003old" in a new inventory.
Other people don't want all the 2 x 2's in old inventories to be called
"6223" or "3003a".
Think of the practical side of things. By using the 3003 entry in new sets, no
one is going to get the wrong variant of part and the 3003old entry isn't
going to have the dates 1954-2015. Using 3003 for newer inventories is not incorrect
- in fact the entry has an alternate number 6223, which is only found on the
trans-colored bricks.
