Store: A brick too far.
Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 2022 Name: Amy Elephant
*
2022-1 (Inv) Amy Elephant
10 Parts, 2 Gear, 1998
Sets: Primo

* Delete 1 Part 31005pb05 Red Primo Brick, Round Rattle 1 x 1 with Ladybug Pattern
* Change 1 Gear Yellow pri057 Primo Storage Elephant {match ID 0 to 1}

Comments from Submitter:
The rattle brick isn't included in this set. The elephants nose seems to have one, but that's a similar brick without the rattle, with with a rope to pull the elephant.
The elephant comes with and without bow tie. I just entered a new item (gear) for the elephant with bow tie. However I can add the item only after it is approved. I'll do that right after approval.
Please consider the lid and elephant to be catalogued as parts in stead of gears. Other Primo elements (e.g. some storage form lids) are listed as parts. In that case, it would be possible to add an assembly for the elephant plus lid, as a "Ride on elephant".

Hi Russell,

Hi Russell,

Thanks for approving the part and adding it as an alternate.

As far as I knew, the wheels weren't detachable, but it did happen once that
both wheels were detached when our grandson throw the elephant around the floor.
I took a better look, and indeed they are detachable, but I first doubt if this
was intentionally done so. However: the picture in the Dutch catalogue shows
the elephant with wheels detached, so maybe it was intended after all.

I did find another picture showing the set including boxes and all elements (so
without the rattle); see below. On Dutch and German eBay sites (as well as eBay
related Dutch www.marktplaats.nl) there are some offers without as well as with
the bow tie version. On eBay.com I can't find either of them at them moment.

Regards Peter.

Hi Peter,

You can thank Maggie for approving the part. And thanks for the picture of
the whole set. I see a 1998 Duplo catalog in there:

Catalog No: c98indup Name: 1998 Medium Duplo International (4112601/4112602-IN)
*
c98indup 1998 Medium Duplo International (4112601/4112602-IN)
Catalogs: 1998: DUPLO

In my last post I should have included the text in the catalog:

Rijdende Schommel Olifant
Op deze gezellige olifant kan je baby zitten en schommelen. Door de wieltjes
te gebruiken kan hij over de vloer rollen of voortgetrokken worden aan de neus.
Op beide manieren helpt de olifant de motorische vaardigheden van je kind mee
ontwikkelen. De olifant bevat tevens bouwelementen.
Vanaf 9 maanden.

Riding Rocking Elephant
On this charming elephant your baby can sit and rock. By using the wheels, it
can be pulled across the floor by the nose. In both ways the elephant helps develop
the motor skills of your child. The elephant also holds bricks.
From 9 months.

Please correct my translation if I have got it wrong (my Dutch is not quite as
good as it used to be ), but it talks about "both ways" of using the elephant,
i.e. with or without wheels. But perhaps only the version without bow tie was
really designed for taking the wheels on and off. Maybe that's why they got
rid of the tie.

worden aan de neus.

Correct translation for that part is: "By using the wheels it can roll across
the floor or be pulled by the nose." That's what's meant by both ways.
One way is for your child to sit on the elephant and use his feet to roll the
elephant across the floor. The other way is to pull the elephant by the nose
if your child can not yet use his feet to move the elephant on his own.

I actually think I misinterpreted the part about pulling the elephant by the
nose. The text mentions that both ways improve a child's motor skills, so
the second way would be the child pulling the elephant by the nose. They wouldn't
develop motor skills if they just sit on the elephant while someone else pulls
it. Although that could still be fun for children who are too young to move the
elephant themselves.

An important distinction for sure.

I found another image from a 1999 Dutch catalog that shows the blue bow tie.
So apparently the bow tie version came later:
