| Hello again for another suggestion,
Have the possibility to configure a faforite tab :
I acces the most
- Orders placed
- My Wanted Lists
- My Wanted Lists by shop
- My Messages
- Forum Suggestions
- ...
It would be nice to have a way to set up your favorites as your homepage when
you loggin to Bricklink and also accessible when visiting a store for quick references.
Maybe even Favorite Tab1 & Tab2.
If not possible at least be able to set up which "sub page" open when clicking
on the different tabs,
Examples:
- When I click on orders, I want to go directly to My orders placed.
- When I click on Wanted, I go to My Wanted List.
- My Bricklink, I go to My Messages.
- ...
Thank you for reading and supporting.
Best regads,
Olivier

I remember you used to be able to put buttons in Google Chrome on the start page
to specific sites. But ever since the new version, they totally screwed it up,
and you can't arrange them the way you want anymore.
As for the OP's idea, I think it would be very handy.

| I guess because I work in project management on processes, I get that it's
handy, but the higher up you go on the food chain, the more small requests that
may benefit a small % of the population you get because they don't do the
work.
If Bricklink had a list of ideas for BL 2.0 and said "we have 10,000 working
hours budgeted for this project"
Here's a list of the ideas that we have that must be done
Here's a list of things that the users have that must be done
here's a list of the things that we have that we would like to do
here's a list of the things that the users have that they would like done.
Things like this, not to dismiss the idea, is in bucket #4.
When I look at my activity and look at my voting record, 70% of the things I've
said no to, simply because they are easy enough for people to do without Bricklink
creating a button for it.
this one..
http://www.bricklink.com/pref_favorite.asp?v=M
or,
this is two clicks.. Orders and placed, rather than one click on a favourite
menu (or two clicks if you have to click to get onto a favourite menu)
Again, two clicks, wanted list, then 'my wanted list' or http://www.bricklink.com/wantedView.asp
| | | - My Wanted Lists by shop
|
|
|
same, two clicks
one click if you have a new message, two clicks if you don't.
one click for the general forum, one click, one drop down and another click for
specifically suggestions.
Now, if you said you wanted to click away at a button that would take wanted
list by shop and figure out the price of all the unique objects on your wanted
list, in each shop by the cost of the parts and volumes, something that would
take substantial time to do manually, I'd give that a thumbs up.
Do we need it.. Need, no,
Would it save a lot of time for those that use it, absolutely.
Would a high % of users that knew about it use it? yes, and not only buyers,
but maybe sellers. It could be used for pricing strategies
if I'm not getting a lot of orders, maybe I run this wanted large generic
wanted list for stores in Canada (for me) and see where on the price scale overall
am I?
I've even been toying with a measure like "likelihood to sell", seeing if
I can come up with a formula based on available pieces, spread of current pricing,
spread of sold items.
Things that are hard to do without a lot of work.
No offense to the OP, going from two clicks to one is the very definition of
nice to have..

Very cool post. I had a side thought- is there a browser ad-on to do this?
Can I set a single shortcut in say, FireFox, to open multiple tabs on a single
site at once?
You can have multiple home page tabs, and that's cool.
But I'd like something like a Favorites button that would open multiple tabs.
Select any you like, maybe the Forum, Orders Received, and My BL.

| I agree with what you said, but in the end it is up to Administration to decide
if something is worth it or not. I think it would be useful for some of the harder
to get to pages, but others might not. Eric said that for now nothing is off
the table for Bricklink 2.0.

I've been involved in projects where nothing is off the table, they are debacles..
I think if we assume that "all ideas will be considered and scrutinized for usefulness",
then that's all we can hope for.
if they decide to put in a function to reduce two click tasks to one, then that's
fine, I'll either use it or not.
But all things only come with unlimited budget and resources, so I think it's
safe to assume they will look at things that are in the biggest bang for the
buck category.
Honestly, when I go back and look at the suggestions, I'd rather have chat
back than 85% of the ideas that I have voted on.

Do you mean create browser favorits for each "favorite" page?
Yes that could work for now, don't why I did not think of that.
However, I need to do that on several computers & the ipad, than when I change
something, I nned to redo the change everywhere. I still would like the idea
implemented if possible.
Just a suggestion for BL 2.0

Firefox does this. Click on bookmarks (favorites?). It opens them all in tabs,
and you can go through and look at each one before closing. Picture is of this
ability in FireFox. It's a default folder, with the least useful bookmarks
ever... but illustrates the point.
Chrome browser uses cloud bookmarks, so once you login to your gmail to use chrome,
your bookmarks are updated across any computer you use them in. Leaving your
chrome bookmarks, and your iPad.
regardless, It would be nice to have a quick-links section that we could each
change.

If you're a member of boardgamegeek.com, you'll see the "Quickbar" at
the top-right corner of the home page (only visible if you're logged in,
so non-members can't see it, unfortunately). Basically, it has 10 tabs,
each tab opens to 10 different saved pages from the site. Only one of the tabs
is open at any given time; this takes up no more space other than the top half
of the header on the page.
I'm not a programmer, and I don't know how bgg.com accomplishes this,
but it's very easy to use, efficient, and unobtrusive. Just a suggestion
if this "nice to have" feature is ever implemented here...
