of the store to show not just my price, but what the lowest price is both worldwide

see if others are lower than you (and if so by how much) without having to check
each part individually.
Amazon uses a similar feature for booksellers.

It's under the my inventory options:

Select the show price guide by items for sale.

Only when you update this change is not recorded...
It seems like it changes this setting, but when I re-visit the settings the boxes
are unchecked again.. Is this still to do with the hack?

No, it would quickly push prices down to nothing.
This and similar have been discussed before. The flaws outweigh any benefit.

What you are describing is not a "flaw". It is called "market pressure" and it
is going to happen anyway. Whether done manually, or done with an aid (like the
OP is asking), it is going to happen.
Fundamentally, there are only two ways for a BrickLink store to get sales: size
or price. If you can't get size, then the only option (assuming you want to sell
the stuff) is price. If that pulls down the prices on the "big boys", too, so
be it. Too bad.
Besides, if the "big boys" feel the prices are too low, they can always fix it
themselves: Buy out the little guys. Seriously. The vast majority of the little
guys are just trying to unload stuff they no longer want. They don't want a store;
it is just a means to an end. If you really think their stuff is too cheap, go
buy it and resell it at a high price. Win-win.
And if you aren't willing to buy out the store, then obviously their prices aren't
too low. Pretty much by definition.
