| I was thinking that there are quite a few topics that reappear in the forum over
and over. Might it be worthwhile creating a FAQ for answering some of these?
It might be implemented as one or more 'pinned' messages.
My entries for such a FAQ:
1) How do you tell the difference between old and new grey? (brown, etc)
2) How do you organize LEGO parts?
3) Do items that I buy automatically get removed from my Wanted List?
4) Did you know that a giant LEGO man washed up on the beach in ?
Any others?

What Lego sets are likely to be good investments
Parting out vs selling an entire set.
If a sale is announced (that really isn't a sale) in a forest and no one is around
to hear it, does it make it a good deal?
What is sealed
What is new
Can I object to store terms after I've accepted them.

What Lego sets are likely to be good investments
|
Any that people want.
| Parting out vs selling an entire set.
|
Having people tell you not to open a sealed box as it will be worth billions
after 100 years.
| If a sale is announced (that really isn't a sale) in a forest and no one is around
to hear it, does it make it a good deal?
|
Sorry I couldn't hear the question for all the sale postings.
The past tense of seal.
The past tense of know.
|
Can I object to store terms after I've accepted them.
|
Yes you can, just like you complain about the prices at the store in the car
on the way home, after you paid for it.
More to add:
Why aren't the forums as fun as they used to be?
Why do some people answer on the forums with shameless self promotion?

It's hard to dislike (or like, for that matter) a store that is closed all the

Let's see:
I don't support customs fraud.
I don't support hidden fees.
I don't support fraudulent or misleading listings.
I do support the rights of a seller to make their own terms, and support my right
to not buy from them if they are not to my liking.
I do support buyers rights.
I am not a fan of lot limits, thou I understand them, and will follow them.
As a buyer I don't ask for discounts after I order, and I understand that mistakes
can happen.
I can take a joke, and dish them out.
I don't support permanent forum bans. That got me stoplisted by a seller.
And I have never really released my snide side out here, I have seen what happened
to JohnP.
I can see where I am such a bad person people don't like me.

Nice idea, but I doubt they will be read. Bricklink Help section is actually
very good and would answer most of the questions asked in the forum. People just
prefer to ask them in the forum. I think it would be the same with a FAQ, people
would just not bother reading them. easier to ask someone who knows already...
Did a giant Lego man really washed up on some beach???

People can't even be bothered to search the forum to see that their questions
was asked and answered just last week. I doubt that a FAQ will be any more useful.
Besides, if we didn't repeat ourselves all the time what would we talk about?

I voted yes, but someone will have to take on the work of putting in the type
of info (and the, uh, "least snide" replies to the common questions.
But you know that sometimes the same questions crop up not because people don't
know the technically correct answer, but because they want some feedback for
a situation that they're in at the moment.
Either way, it could be a good thing that we could point certain queries to for
answers.
