I would like to be able to sell or order Pixar Cars (completed)

It would be great to have a section, maybe in minifig section for them so people
could sell them and by them instead of looking for all the individual parts.

Thanks for considering

There is lots of new designs released in 2012...

Even if they are not considered minifigs they are caracters...

So if they are not categorised with minifigs it woud be great to locate them
in a section

This has come up several times and, unfortunately, has been deemed to be a gateway
to possible problems; Some suggested problems include - Should all vehicles in
sets get their own entry? as in "I want to buy JUST the bus from set XXXX-1"
or "I want to sell JUST the 1 train car" etc.

I do understand the arguments for not adding them as "complete assembly", however,
I do think that characters (such as Cars) deserve a second look. So I vote "Yes",
but I know the decision has already been made several times in the past.

I agree. They ARE the minifigs in a set. You won't find minifigs in the sets
that Cars characters come in. What was the arguement regarding not having them
as a complete assembly?

It all has to do with the decision to limit "complete assembly" entries, as they
can be taken to the next level.. and next level.. and so on. Every set can have
several assemblies (and if done right, would make the price guide a heck of a
lot more accurate), but it would also "clog up" the catalog with so many entries
and physical work with checking and verifying that it is seen as too much work
and/or too much computing/storage.

At least, that is my understanding of the situation.

I understand. And I agree, more complete assemblies within sets would lead to
better price guide history. Imagine if selling a Star Wars set without minifigs
or weapons was a separate entry from the set itself. That would certainly be
something. Maybe it's better if no changes are made. Imagine if there were sub-sets
for each of the numbered bags within sets.

All good points.

My vote-
Sets by bags: Yes
Sets by assembly: Yes
Sets by any type of sorting/breakdown: Yes

However, the catalog (and the people who make it work) can only handle so much.
I'd rather have what we have now, and know the quirks about finding information
or closely reading posted descriptions, than try to push a lot of restructuring
and have to learn it all over again or generate serious problems with man-power
or compiling issues.

It does seem a bit odd that droids got in as minifigs, but full-on, talking characters
don't qualify... even

But! On the flip-side; if you want Cars assemblies to be minifigs, then would

Set No: 8677 Name: Ultimate Build Mater
*
8677-1 (Inv) Ultimate Build Mater
288 Parts, 2011
Sets: Cars: Cars 2
just be a BIG minifigure?

The can of worms. It has been opened.

There is precedent here, too. These SW large droid sets are not minifigs:

Set No: 4481 Name: Hailfire Droid
*
4481-1 (Inv) Hailfire Droid
680 Parts, 2003
Sets: Technic: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 2

Set No: 7111 Name: Droid Fighter
*
7111-1 (Inv) Droid Fighter
62 Parts, 1999
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 1

Set No: 8000 Name: Pit Droid
*
8000-1 (Inv) Pit Droid
223 Parts, 2000
Sets: Technic: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 1

Set No: 8002 Name: Destroyer Droid
*
8002-1 (Inv) Destroyer Droid
567 Parts, 2000
Sets: Technic: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 1

And there are others. So I don't think that needs to be an issue.

Good point. And to be honest, I was only pushing to show how others might (and
probably will). Common sense should rule the situation.

It has been discussed before, and I completely agree it should be done. there
is no "can of worms" here. If Lego lists it separately on the side of the box,
and identifies it with its own name, then it should be available as a separate
listing on Bricklink. If we need a new category called "characters" rather than
calling them minifigures, that's fine.

really don't see why it shouldn't be done, but I don't run the site so...
