| If possible, please implement a feature whereby sellers can schedule the starting
and ending times of sales. For example, some sellers may want to have a one day
sale starting at 12:01 a.m. their time and finishing at 11:59 p.m. their time.
Rather than staying up late two nights in a row to manually start and end their
sale, the system can automatically start and end the sale for them (allowing
the member to get their beauty sleep and be a nicer person in the forum and when
dealing with their buyers, spouse and children, increasing the chances of them
being in a happy charitable mood and thereby making the world a nicer place for
everyone).
Or suppose a seller wants to have a six-hour Black Friday sale but won't be around
to manually start and end their sale because they are battling crowds of shoppers
at Wal-mart, Target and Best Buy so they can purchase more inventory for their
BrickLink shop, thereby resulting in more sales and more buyers to BrickLink
and helping Admin retire so comfortably that he buys a yacht and invites everyone
here to join him on a Carribean cruise with wine, women and song.
Yes, this feature could help make the world a John Lennonish kumbayah of peace
and harmony. But I would simply love to be able to just input the start and finish
times for my sales and let the BrickLink system automatically take it from there.
When the sale starts, BL will automatically reduce a store's prices as pre-selected
by the seller, and when the sale finishes those prices will automatically return
to their regular pre-sale prices.

| Hell ya! A suggested tweak is to also allow the store to close for 30 mins at
the end of the sale, if the seller wants to. This will (I think) dump the carts
of those in your store after the 30 mins so don't find stuff going for your sale
price 2 days later.

| I like the idea, but I am wondering if the Bricklink servers can handle it? We
have already seen time outs with wanted list notifications and I myself can't
put my whole store on sale with one try, I get an error message each time, so
I have to do about 15 categories at a time and then there isn't a problem. So
if 50 stores all start sales at 4 A.M on black friday and the Bricklink dudes
have to switch out all the prices I am just worried about an overload and maybe
some stores sales not starting, or others running late etc.
Anyways, just an observation. I don't use sales to often, but I like the idea.

Good points. There are often technical limitations to suggestions which us lay
people may not be aware of. If these technical problems prevent this suggestion
from being implemented, so be it.
Maybe this problem could be avoided if those who scheduled sales were limited
in the number of lots or categories they could automatically put on sale via
this feature. For example, 50 or 100 lots at the most (or up to 10 categories)
rather than all thousands of lots in each seller's inventory. For anything more,
it would have to be done manually.

I made a similiar suggestion a while ago. Nothing come of it. Voted yes though.

| Is the sale to be store-wide? If the sale is not store-wide, how does one include
or exclude certain lots (perhaps a sale stockroom, with everything moved back
into normal stock at the end)?
How does it apply to existing discounts? Will the discounts be returned to normal
after the sale?

I'd guess it would be best to have the "apply sale" option that currently exists
on inventory pages to be modified to add the following (optional) settings:
apply sale from
apply sale until
and maybe eventually have an option for end of sale to:
revert to current state
remove all settings
(Just in case you are changing sale settings from ongoing "sale" conditions in
store.)
