I agree. If sellers do not want to include accessories,
then they should state so in their listing.

*
sh154 (Inv) Hawkman
Minifigures: Super Heroes: Justice League
Hawkman comes with 2 different wing sets, but only one is included. The other
one is useless, if it isn't included, IMO

And this one...

Minifig No: sh119 Name: Magneto - Dark Purple Outfit
*
sh119 (Inv) Magneto - Dark Purple Outfit
Minifigures: Super Heroes: X-Men
Again, he is not Magneto without the helmet, and what happened to the 2x2 round

Wolverine again, but unlike Magneto, he has his helmet, but not the hair, and
again, no claws!

Minifig No: sh004 Name: Wonder Woman

Minifigures: Super Heroes: Superman
Who is Wonderwoman without the lasso? I do know that the lasso came with another
figure, but still, Wonderwoman with no lasso?

Minifig No: sh150 Name: Wonder Woman - Silver Tiara, Dark Blue Legs

sh150 (Inv) Wonder Woman - Silver Tiara, Dark Blue Legs
Minifigures: Super Heroes: Justice League
Ah, a LEGO set with Wonderwoman, and no lasso, I guess that one doesn't actually
fit my argument .

One example I did not include is Thor, There are several versions of Thor, and
none include the hammer...Thor without his hammer is like Wolverine without his
claws!

Anyway, now that super-lots are not included in the wanted-list searches, sellers
are forced to either list them separately, and risk running out of one before
the other, or, including them, and either taking the loss, or listing the figure
for higher than average. I think we should be thinking of changing the rules
from now on. These figures should include the accessories. That is what buyers
want. They don't want to have to scrutinize the listing for what is included.
They want what should be included. Please make new rules for listing figures,
that accounts for what buyers expect when they buy a figure.

I don't think adding accessories to minifigure catalog listings is
the way to go. Perhaps a better option, one that would most likely accompany
an improved shopping cart/automated checkout, is the ability to add variations
to products in your stores. That way, on the product page or checkout screen,
a drop down box would appear next to the applicable item and allow the buyer
to select 'add Mjölnir + $0.75' or something similar. This way, sellers
can potentially sell more of the accessories and buyers can retain their freedom
of choice.

The main problem is this, there are sellers that include accessories, and there
are those that don't. Currently, the ones that don't mostly show up at
the top, (cheapest), of the catalog pages, and will most likely be the only ones
that show up in the auto-finder option, and the sellers who do include the accessories,
get lost in the shuffle. Also, when viewing the catalog page, the comments are
not shown, so there is no way to view who includes, and who doesn't. The
result is, there is no inclusion of accessories in the average price, as that
info doesn't affect the average. So, the sellers that include accessories,
LOSE, no matter what. But, I feel many buyers of certain figures, like the ones
I used as examples already, want the "complete" figures, including the accessories.
So they have to do extra work to find what they want. The wanted list doesn't
find what they want...as it doesn't show who includes accessories either.
So the buyers LOSE too .

Darren

I agree with you that there is an issue to be solved. I also think that while
super lot filtering should be a part of the wanted list, that reintroducing that
feature doesn't solve this problem.

Maybe then there should be a base listing for the minifigure, like now, but on
the seller's inventory detail screen there is a set of checkboxes for approved
'optional' accessories that are normally associated with that figure
in the sets that it is featured in. This would make the listing auto-populate
something like "includes: sword (part#) and shield (part#)." Also, it wouldn't
count as a super-lot, but could be added as a filter option. That should make
it easier for the buyer in your scenario and the seller who includes the accessories.

I think you are proposing a workaround for a problem instead of addressing the
real problem.

The real solution to the problem is to fix the broken wanted list feature, so
that is able to deal with superlots and bulk items again.

I don't want to force anyone to do anything, although I have been forced
to remove super-lots, as they are not included in wanted searches, without any
warning. That's OK, people have been abusing the super-lot feature recently,
and it has resulted in bad press regarding them. In a few days, I will no longer
have any left. I would like an option to include accessories with minifigs though,
as that is the way I roll .

Well, not this buyer! One of the great things I like about BrickLink is that
you can buy the individual weapons and accessories when and if you want them.
It is a pretty big assumption that ALL buyers would prefer to always pay for
the extra items when ordering a minifig.

Just my two cents..

Good night!
Jen

I did not say ALL buyers. I also didn't say some, or most either, I suppose
. I am sure there would still be sellers willing to part out figures, as always,
so the individual parts would still be available. My point is that there currently
isn't a good option for sellers that do want to include the vital parts with
their minifigures. I wasn't expecting much with my post, the Cars characters
where never created, like me, and many other buyers wanted. trying to collect
all the characters turned out to be a useless cause. That's OK, I saved a
lot of $ in the long run...

I realize that up to now, minifigure accessories where not allowed to be included
in a minifigure inventory. But, times have changed. Many of the minifigures being
produced come in a set with the figure that would only come with a specific accesory,
examples...

Minifig No: sh106 Name: Captain America - Blue Suit, Red Hands, Mask

sh106 (Inv) Captain America - Blue Suit, Red Hands, Mask
Minifigures: Super Heroes: Avengers Assemble
and part

Minifig No: sh154 Name: Hawkman
*

Minifigures: Super Heroes: Justice League
Hawkman comes with 2 different wing sets, but only one is included. The other
one is useless, if it isn't included, IMO

sh017 (Inv) Wolverine - Hair
Minifigures: Super Heroes: X-Men
Wolverine without claws...come on now, that is just wrong people.

Minifig No: sh118 Name: Wolverine - Bright Light Orange and Black Mask, Dark Brown Hands
*
sh118 (Inv) Wolverine - Bright Light Orange and Black Mask, Dark Brown Hands
Minifigures: Super Heroes: X-Men
Wolverine again, but unlike Magneto, he has his helmet, but not the hair, and
again, no claws!

Minifig No: sh004 Name: Wonder Woman
*
sh004 (Inv) Wonder Woman
Minifigures: Super Heroes: Superman
Who is Wonderwoman without the lasso? I do know that the lasso came with another
figure, but still, Wonderwoman with no lasso?

Minifig No: sh150 Name: Wonder Woman - Silver Tiara, Dark Blue Legs
*
sh150 (Inv) Wonder Woman - Silver Tiara, Dark Blue Legs

They you can easily opt out. Only those who have purchased from my store get
added to the list, not everyone on BrickLink. That would definitely be spam.

Never mind what I am doing with my customers' emails. This should be a vote
on if there should be mass coupons or not. I know all of the forum readers here
love to pick things to death. Focus on the actual suggestion.

I voted yes to the suggestion. But that doesn't change the criticisms about
what you are currently doing. This isn't picking things to death, this is
letting you know that what you are doing is potentially against the law, and
against Mailchimp's terms.

It looks like BL needs a way to create generic coupons that anyone can use.
Having to make a coupon for each user is a waste of time.

I have a clause in my terms stating that ordering from my store means you consent

That may not be in compliance with Mailchimp's terms, nor with Canada's
Anti-Spam Legislation (which you are required to follow if you are sending any
of this emails to Canada).

Anyone can opt out of this mailing list at any
time. I don't see a problem with trying to bring more sales to BrickLink.
I looked at BrickLink's mailing list function and it is very simplistic.
I would rather take things into my own hands and use a service like MailChimp
where I have 10x the list that I do on BrickLink.

I would like to suggest that BrickLink add a coupon field to checkout in each
store.

We already have 1-to-1 coupons and the ability to put our stores items on sale,
but what we need to be like the rest of the internet is a coupon code field.

Every week I send code words to my customer base for different special offers
and sales. The best I can do right now is ask for them to use that code in the
Comments To Seller field upon checkout. I then have to see that they used the
word and apply the discount manually.

Instead of creating coupons you send your mailing list members an actioncode
each week and you suggest BL to invest in creating an actioncode field at checkout.

It sounds like you're using the mailing list as mass coupon instead of announcements:
http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=269&q=Mailing+list+

I think it would be fantastic if sellers could manage their active coupon codes,
the duration of the coupon, the discount amount, and the code text itself, then
anyone who knows the code can use it within the timeframe that it is active.

I would love to hear your thoughts as I think this is sorely needed for any stores
who are trying to do repeat business with customers.

He is not using that mailing list, he uses mailchimp.

Don't know what a mailchimp is, but sending unsolicited emails can be considered
as spamming. It's a selectable reason to report under the Problem tab.

  PD: Voted yes!

It's a clever way of promoting sales without having to create coupons.
I would vote no as sellers should equally play by the BL rules of promotion.
BL should not encourage mass emailing to former customers.
