I know it has been asked and answered but I will ask again to make the point.
I have had problems with Paypal in the past and DO NOT want to use it. Not
only it Brinklink requiring paypal but it requires a PayPal account be created.
Please, please come up with another option or at least allow PayPal without
creating an account as many other sites do. PayPal is NOT a bank so they are
not regulated in the same manner as other financial insitutions.

I understand your problem. I also had many reservations about opening a PayPal
account.
Your problem is that you live in the US. In Europe, there are plenty of alternatives
available, such as online bank transfers and all sorts of services from internet
payment providers.
Unfortunately, the US is at least 30 years behind Europe in modern payment methods.
You in the US even still have checks, which were abolished in Europe back in
the 1980s!
The only thing you can really do about this is move to a decent country in Europe.
That's good advice anyway, given the current US administration...

Just to clarify: I regularly order from countries like France, Poland, and Slovenia.
I transfer the amount due using my bank's app. The seller in that country
receives the money in their account within a minute.
I feel sorry for the millions of people in the US who don't have access to
payment methods that are standard here in Europe.

not sure where you got the idea that we can't wire money to others directly.
We can it just has a fee and usually sitting through a call from a banker making
sure you aren't being scammed.
I've wired money a number of times, it's near instant. It's also
got zero fraud protection and I don't do it outside of real estate or other
large purchases.
Wrong. Cheques are still a thing in Europe, notably in France.
There's something nice about sending or receiving a card with a check/cheque
in it imho. Though I wish my godson would cash the one I sent him for Christmas....

Use stripe then.
Government are requiring marketplaces to collect sales tax/vat etc. which can
only be done through onsite payment methods like PayPal or stripe.
PayPal is not a bank but it is better regulated than an actual bank. You have
way more protection with PayPal than with a bank. Bank transfers (EU) or E-Transfer
(Canada) offer zero protection for the buyer, once you send the money its gone.

Note: since July 2007, PayPal has operated across the European Union as a Luxembourg-based
Bank.

Our options are Paypal or Stripe. Stripe has some bad history with sellers that
have made many of us wary of it. At least with Paypal, you can eventually get
though to someone in customer service.
I don't know if it's the Marketplace tax requirements that necessitate
the use of an actual Paypal account vs just using it to handle a credit card
charge, but that seems to have been the standard since BL had to start collecting
US taxes.

Indeed. The way BL has implemented PayPal Onsite makes it impossible to use
it without an account. I’m not sure it’s a requirement from PayPal but it’s
how it works on BL.
Anyway, unless you’ve had problems with PayPal and they don’t want you to, having
an account gives more protections to the buyer.
As for data collection, that you have an account or not, they know who you are
by your credit card, so 🤷♂️
