I wanted to know :
Is there a construction technique to align the pieces? There's a slight misalignment
between the side piece and the other pieces.

Hi,

You’re doing it wrong, very wrong.

The ratio is 5 plates = 2 studs, as shown on the pic below.

Here, you have one side stud that connects to the underside pin of the plate,
so, with a 0.5 stud offset, and the second side stud doesn’t connect to anything
(but doesn’t collide either, because hollow side studs don’t collide with much
of anything in Studio).
