Hi. I was hoping someone could point me to a good replacement 9v train motor
made by a third party? The Chinese have copied so many other Lego parts & motors,
so why haven’t they done this? The need is great and the supply is tiny. This
is the one thing we need, and there doesn’t seem to be any alternative.

You're definitely not wrong, but competitor links aren't allowed, even
if the part is no longer produced. Try asking in online Lego train communities,
they'll be paying close attention to these

They tend to copy current products rather than vintage ones where the demand
is much lower. The cheap Chinese manufacturers have copied PF and newer parts,
but I don't think they were copying items as much when the old 9V trains
were a current product.
If it is the motor that is worn out, you might be able to open it and replace
the motor.
I have been looking for replacement 9v motors for quite awhile and, as you say,
only the newer parts have knock-offs available.
I would also be interested in someone who can repair these, where I send them,
have them repaired and then sent back.
