Not sure if it's relevant only for Switzerland but I assume this is similar
in other countries.
Basically, Swiss Post letters are limited to 2 cm thickness, but BrickLink can’t
calculate total order thickness (only per-item dimensions).
With automated checkout enabled, how do you handle this? Shall I just put a note
in the shipping conditions and expect buyers to select the right option?
Canada Post has the same limitation. No, I definitely would not expect buyers
to select the right option as some will not read, or choose the cheapest option
by default.
In the shipping settings of each shipping method you set up, there’s a section
at the bottom called “restrictions” and you can set up the maximum dimensions.
Mine is set up for 1.9 cm thickness to allow for the packaging. If any individual
part dimensions in the order are wider than that, it will default to manual checkout.
I like this option because if there is a part where it will still pass as lettermail
at an angle, I can give the buyer the lesser rate. All of your parcel rate orders
will then default to manual checkout for rates to be calculated.
I hope this helps, best of luck!

Oh yes! That will save me load of time rather than trying to find out which parts
are thicker than 2 cm Thank you!
