I just checked: 60608 can be squeezed into 6556, it's a bit tight, but I
managed without damaging the parts. What seems weirder to me is that in 6556
there's nothing to hold the panes in place closed - 60584 and 3853 have this
ridge that stops the panes from going in the wrong direction, that is missing
in 6556. Seems strange that this combination of parts would have been used.

Yes, it’s more probable that the matching parts were used together. In any case,
even if weird mismatches may have happened, it’s doubtful the set started with
a mismatch; it must have started with the older pair first.
So, logically, 6556+3853 should be in Regular, and 60608+60584 in Alternate.
With same MIDs if we are sure mismatches couldn’t happen, different MIDs if we
think some sets could have come with mismatches.
