Hi everyone. Jumping right in…There’s this kid, living directly across the street
from me who grew up with my kid, well, they are actually now Seniors and the
reason that’s important is because I’ve known this kid for many years. And he’s
a pretty remarkable human. The boys aren’t as close as they once were as I switched
my son to a new school district and their plans for after graduation are just
different so there’s really only Legos that keeps em connected. I do want to
share that the two of them are on the spectrum. High functioning. They are similar
in many aspects. And so different in many aspects. They both want to be engineers.
My son chemical and the other kid mechanical. While my son loves Legos, even
he would admit it’s not the same. My son gifted entire sets to the other kid.
Parting with his Legos isn’t even something that would cross the other kid’s
mind. Legos are life to this future mechanical engineer who I adore. So I need
your help. He placed an order here on this site at the end of November. For specific
pieces. Not costly but I imagine so time consuming and purposeful. According
to what his dad learned thru usps, his order was delivered on Dec 6th. It didn’t
occur to him to mention it and thankfully his dad knew about said order and checked
in with his kid. Now dad learns about the delivery status as well as is given
proof when he receives the photo of where the package was left by the mailman.
Unfortunately our regular mailman had a fill in. Otherwise we’d be not here…lol.
The photo shows it was actually delivered, across the street from them, to the
house next door to me. Dad went to my next door neighbor to retrieve the package
and guess what….yup, they had no idea. Never saw it, never touched it, wasn’t
ever near them. After dad chatted with them he came to my house and that’s how
I learned about the situation. Those people are crappy people. Broke this kid’s
heart. And when I saw his face, I had to see if I could fix this. He sent me
a screenshot of his order. I can see the pieces he ordered. I can pretty much
see everything except the seller’s information. He said it’s the best he could
do and I told him it was better than what I needed. So….please, steer me in the
direction of my next step? I’m determined to reorder his order. Without his knowledge.
And before he gets Christmas money to reorder his order himself. I’ve never used
this site before. Ordering from Legos is way different from what I peeked thru.
I greatly appreciate any and all guidance, feedback, comments and even complaints.
Yes, I know this is at length. I’m not built for short stories. Details are important.
And whether you wish Santa brings me coal or a puppy for your taking the time
to read ALL of this, I appreciate you regardless!😊🫶🏼

Hi there, and first of all—welcome to BrickLink. I know this probably isn’t the
way you imagined your first experience here going, but it’s very clear from your
post that your heart is absolutely in the right place. I’m really sorry this
happened, both for the kid and for you having to carry the weight of fixing something
that shouldn’t have broken in the first place. Anyone who’s been around LEGO
long enough knows that when a build (or the parts for it) disappear, it can feel
like more than just “stuff” going missing. Let me break this down in a practical
way and hopefully give you a clear path forward. First, about the original order:
if the order was marked as delivered by USPS but never reached the intended recipient,
this is unfortunately one of those gray areas where BrickLink itself can’t directly
intervene. BrickLink is a marketplace, not the seller, so disputes are always
between buyer and seller. Normally, the buyer (or the buyer’s parent in this
case) should contact the seller directly through BrickLink messages and explain
the situation. Most sellers will at least try to help, even if the package shows
as delivered. Sometimes they can provide additional delivery info, insurance
details, or guidance on filing a USPS claim. If the package was insured, that
can sometimes result in a refund or replacement, but it does take time. That
said, I completely understand that your goal isn’t to fight USPS or go through
a claims process—you want to quietly replace the parts and spare the kid another
disappointment. That’s honestly a very kind thing to do. Since you don’t have
the seller information, the easiest way to recreate the order is to manually
rebuild it. From the screenshot you mentioned, you should be able to identify
the part numbers, colors, and quantities. If you’re not familiar with BrickLink’s
part catalog, don’t worry—this is where most of us started. You can search parts
by number or description, and once you click into a part, you’ll see all available
colors and sellers offering it. A helpful tip: instead of ordering each part
individually, use the Wanted List feature. You can create a new wanted list,
add all the parts from the screenshot, and then use the “Buy All” option. BrickLink
will automatically try to find sellers who can fulfill the most parts in one
order, which saves on shipping and reduces complexity. It’s not perfect, but
it’s incredibly useful—especially for someone new to the site. Another important
thing to watch for is seller location. If you’re trying to get this done before
the holidays, I’d strongly recommend filtering for sellers within your country
(or even your state, if possible). International shipping around December can
be unpredictable, and you don’t want to replace one stressful situation with
another. As for the neighbors… I’ll just say this: the BrickLink community has
seen its share of missing packages over the years, and it’s always frustrating.
Porch theft, misdelivery, and “mysterious disappearances” unfortunately happen.
You’re doing the right thing by focusing on the solution rather than the blame.
Lastly, I just want to say this: LEGO has a funny way of connecting people, especially
those who see the world a bit differently. For many builders, parts aren’t just
parts—they’re potential, plans, and comfort all rolled into one. What you’re
doing here absolutely matters, even if the kid never knows the full story. If
you run into trouble identifying any specific parts from the screenshot, feel
free to ask here again (or post the part numbers if you’re allowed). Plenty of
folks here are happy to help track things down or suggest alternatives if something
is out of stock. You’re among good people here. And for what it’s worth, I think
Santa’s got you firmly in the “puppy” category this year. 😊
Welcome to BrickLink! It's so kind of you to come here to get new parts for
your son's friend. I echo what SezaR said about manually recreating the order
by searching up the pieces, that's going to be your best bet. Even if the
kid who ordered the pieces contacts the seller and USPS (which they definitely
should), it won't get his pieces back in a timely manner.
The BrickLink catalog can be difficult to navigate at first but if you look at
the screenshot you have and search up the exact part names or IDs it should
be easy to find the parts. The Christmas shipping cutoff for the US is December
17th for USPS Ground Advantage packages, so you have a few days if you'd
like it to be a holiday surprise! If you have any questions about the catalog
or the specific parts you need, you should definitely post in the forum again.
I'm sure people will be happy to help

I see you are in Washington. If you are in the Lynnwood-Everett-Bellevue area,
I want to help you replace the missing parts.
I do not want to circumvent any Bricklink rules but do not have an open store
at this time. With 700-900k Lego, I would feel guilty if I did not offer to donate
some replacement parts and leverage some contacts to help in your effort.
