One component of the car is the yellow brick that holds the wheels (4488 in yellow),
quite visible as it is in the front. It seems though, that this brick is rare
as it only appeared in a few lego sets with one brick in it for holding helicopter
propellors. I can't seem to find it on BrickOwl at all, neither a double
set anywhere close to me in Europe through bricklink.
So my question to you guys is: how would you recreate this brick so it has the
same functionality and looks more or less the same? Maybe 2817 with pins in
it? Or like 3700 although i guess it's taller?
This is the first time going outside of the regular lego sets for me, so I'm
curious what you guys with more experience would consider.

Hi,
The problem is that if you don’t use a small pin wheel holder, you need to change
the (front) wheels and tyres.
And I’m not sure there’s a similar tyre (in size) that goes on a wheel that goes
on a Technic pin/axle (I couldn’t find one).
But there’s also no other small pin wheel holder plate in Yellow 🙃
Now, you could use a bar instead of a small pin wheel holder… but 1. that pushes
the wheel quite a bit, 2. it’s not a connection, the wheel is very loose on the
bar (that’s why it needs a pin and flanges).
Also, less visible on the pic, (3) the wheel holder is more or less centred on
the plate, while a Technic hole (like on 10247) is lower by a bit more than half
a plate (5 LDU).
You could use a hoose / cut bar instead of a 2L bar to lessen (1).
You could use some tape to make it fit tighter to fix (2) (the wheel will still
turn thanks to the Technic pin).
But I don’t see any solution to correct (3).

Got it... I didn't even realize the pins are smaller than the technic ones.
Sounds like there isn't really a solution then. Might have to consider using
a different color as the other comment here suggested.

The back is grey with the rocks / throne. So why not extend the grey a little
downwards and use grey wheel holders there, then use the red ones at the front
instead of yellow. And maybe use a yellow plate instead of red underneath. That
way the front will be green red yellow instead of green yellow red.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I'd hope to get it as close to the original
as possible haha. But your solution is definitely a creative way to still have
it look close to how its supposed to. Might do it if I don't find another
solution here. Thank you!

Certain creative freedom has to be taken anyway, since the parts used in the
game appear not to exist. The front of the car is solid green yellow red stripes.
This is not possible with the 4488 as that has double plate height for the first
stud away from the wheel. And the 1x2 with wheel holder didn't exist back
then.

How about the above part? You would need to half-stud offset it, but other than
that it fulfills the need for wheels being held on 4 studs apart. You would also
need to rebuild the front end to match up properly. But I can see it working!
There would be a minor height difference, but at least it will hold the wheels
on properly, if you can find tires that fit on that part.
The best thing about this part is that it is available to buy on BrickLink!

Good idea!
Its “wrong” colour can be hidden by normal plates in front/back

There’s no height difference at all with the “original” part, 4488, for the wheel
connection. And it connects to the same wheels too.

That's quite clever yes, hiding it with a brick in front of it. This might
be the solution!

Appreciate your thinking along with me! I did look into this brick as well, but
from what I could find it doesn't exist in yellow, as is the case for most
of the alternative wheel holding bricks.

I'm thinking you would use this and put a yellow plate in front of it? But
the wheels would be offset 1/2 stud.

Yes someone else clarified this and it made sense to me. I think the 1/2 stud
offset is fine and the closest I'm going to be able to get. Thank you!
