Hey everyone! I'm considering a new selling tactic I've used here and
there successfully in the past and I wanted to get some ideas. The plan I had
is to buy assorted Minifigure pieces here on bricklink and make them into movie
characters or sports players etc. of course they would just look alike as
using there actual names would go against I.P. infringement and such (Which,
as I can tell you, does not go over well on most selling websites ). I would
also likely do it on eBay as bricklink isn't exactly set up to sell M.O.C.
Minifigures. So, my question is what characters/sports players/people do y'all
wish LEGO had made into Minifigures?

Problems:
1. “Look alike” is enough to infringe. Minifigure with a red cape and briefs
over blue trousers: it doesn’t need to have a stylized S on the torso to infringe
on Superman’s owners’ IP.
2. If you don’t use the names… how will buyers find them? Bit of a catch-22
here.

Didn't realize this. Good to know.

True.
In the past, I've made versions of Ninjago characters that appeared in the
show but were never made into LEGO form. I didn't get in trouble then, but
is this allowed? If it is allowed, are there any LEGO owned characters that anyone
would like to see?
Thanks for your thoughts Mr. SylvianLS!

No of course. The name, show, movie, sets and everything are all registered and
protected under a big IP umbrella. The fact you didn't get in trouble, you
know... big fishes small fishes... sometimes one can swim around. But it doesn't
last.

Dang. Back to the drawing board I guess. Not surprised in the end though I suppose.
