was first produced later than 1972, probably around 1974 or 1975 but this is
just a wild guess.
The instructions is not clear. One picture on the box shows 3183b.
I checked three used copies with box for sale on e bay. Two of them come with
3183b and one with 3183a. I think this does not help because both parts are pretty
common and could have been switched with their counterpart variant taken from
a different set.
The best is to accept the box art.

We don't accept box art as valid proof for variants as these photos can be
done quite early and differ from production parts.
But I also found many used sets with box that have the 4 slots version so will
accept this request.
