Hi all:

Just wondering if there's any way to get old order information somewhere.
I had a bit of a hiatus from ordering and now almost all of my old orders are
no longer showing up on my account. I didn't order a ton - maybe 75 orders
or something. But I wanted to try to order from sellers I had good experiences
previously and I can't remember most of their store names, so was hoping
to search my old orders. It's pretty annoying that all my orders don't
just permanently stay as a record on my account. Is there an archive somewhere
I can get?

Thanks!

As usually happens I think I found a way almost instantly after I posted. I
noticed the (74) next to my name so I remembered the feedback system and sure
enough most of my transactions had feedback so I think that will be my way of
identifying the sellers I used before - just without the actual order information,
but better than nothing.

You can download your old orders here: https://www.bricklink.com/orderExcel.asp?orderType=placed
There’s no details (items, unit prices…), only the “header” of the orders’ pages.

The link is called “download” and is at the bottom of your orders list… when
the list isn’t empty.

Your order e-mails doesn't help?
A seller should keep his e-mails for years at least, in case of.

Ah sorry, didn't think seeing the 74 FB, it's a proper FB rating for
a buyer, congratulations!

But buyers should also keep their e-mail, in fact, everyone should keep them

I don't agree fully with that. If I kept all of my e-mails from orders I
placed over the last 21 1/2 years, my e-mail would be full! Keeping them for
1 year is a good idea though.

Size-wise, BrickLink emails are only text, just a few kiB.
Let’s say an average of 32 kiB by order if you have (very) long orders and/or
a couple follow-up messages.
That means that to fill 1 MiB, you need to store 32768 orders.
1 email with a photo is more than that.
Conclusion: delete one email with a funny picture of a cat and you can store
200 years of BL orders

Number-wise, yes, thousands of emails, that can be daunting… but there’s a thing
called folders and another called archive

Now, one annoying thing with BL order emails is that they have not always followed
the same format (just a detail but annoying) and, most importantly, they don’t
have the IDs, just the names… and many names and IDs changed in 20 years

Whoops, it’s 1 GiB of course.

Conclusion: delete one email with a funny picture of a cat and you can store

So 1024 cat pictures for 200 years of BL orders.
(32 BL orders per cat picture.)

I shouldn’t do 'rithmetics while digesting 😅

Use an e-mail client and the oldest years saved locally. I've my e-mails
since 1998 or such Ah and of course free services pose many problems, including
privacy etc. I'd avoid google, MS, etc.

Example, this is one of the best here, super privacy (located in Switzerland),
super reliable, free up to 20 GB, no ads - that is MANY YEARS of emails
https://www.infomaniak.com/en/free-email

We have a paid account there, and know them for 20 years. Works 24/365.
