I placed my Order back in June for series 5. I heard they are now shipping out.
but no word on shipping to USA. I'm not sure where they are coming from,
but will there be an issue with them shipping out? I checked my orders on lego.com,
some say in progress, some say backordered. none say shipped. never
ordered from the designer program before.

As far as I know, they start shipping “end of October”¹… but they aren’t
shipping to everybody on the same day. It’ll take a few weeks to ship everything.

For what it is worth, I ordered two sets from series 5. One has shipped (the
mushroom village), and has been received. The other (Tortuga) is listed as
"In progress."
Related, an order from the most recent series, the Wolfpack Den, has completely
disappeared from my order history. CS says that have it, and it is confirmed,
but have no explanation as to why it does not appear in order history.
Needless to say, I am concerned that something has gone wrong with both these
sets.
I ordered all 5 sets and I have received everything but Thieves of Tortuga. My
order still says "In Progress" I called Lego to see what was up and they
said that's they still see it on their end and it should ship at some point.
He did not have a specific time frame. Hopefully it comes soon. I also have a
missing part being shipped from Lego, he said those are about 8 to 10 weeks out.
That is delayed due to tariffs I believe. I wonder if the new sets are being
held up too? Good luck!
