Good afternoon,
I posted this to the Suggestions/Site Improvements page a long time ago with
no response. It is really causing a lot of extra clicks for me, can someone please
look into the below?
---------------------------------------------------------
When the new headers and search bar were rolled out, we lost a specific functinality
that I would like to see restored.
Basically, the selection you make on the search drop down ("All Items",
"My Store Inventory", etc) should remain persistent **but only within
each browser tab**. I typically have 2+ windows/tabs open to Bricklink on separate
screens, and if I change the drop down to "My Store Inventory" on Tab
1, the next time I refresh Tab 2 it will change to "My Store Inventory".
This results in me usually accidentally searching My Inventory when I meant to
search the catalog and having to re-select the drop down and search again. Lots
of extra clicks every single day.
Upon initial rollout of the new search bar, the drop down would revert 100% of
the time to "All Items" after every search. Someone made a change that
made it persistent, which is great, but it needs to be restricted to being persistent
only within each tab. It used to behave like this so I know it is possible. Hopefully
I'm using understandable terminology so you understand what I'm referring
to. I'm using current version of Chrome if that matters.
I have the issue that even within a tab my choice of dropdown (such as My Inventory)
does not propagate from page to page. So I search My Inventory and the inventory
page that comes up has the drop down menu reset to All Items, I go to search
another number and realize I have been changed from my inventory to the catalog,
very annoying. This happens to me both on the current version of Firefox and
Safari.

Not this shouldn't be fixed, but as you're alreading using tabs, why
not have always opened (or reopened) example:
* your shop page
* your inventory page
* your orders received one
* the forum
* a catalog search...
This way you can directly type or paste what you wish where you wish, and then
you don't need the nav bar (which I never use, except for searching in forum).
I am using the search box to choose My inventory and then a part number, so that
I can check the quantity in inventory. Then I want to do the same thing again
with a different part. (Without having to pull down the drop down menu and reselect
'My Store Inventory'.) That is why I feel the choice of where you are,
whether that is All Items, Catalog, or My Store Inventory for example, should
propagate from page to page.
I am staying within the same tab, so having extra tabs like you suggest would
not solve the issue. (Though I do concur with not using the nav bar as its too
wide for portrait viewing and the search box gets squished into an unfunctional
form.)
