The initial evidence for this request is the used lot I bought from Japan. The
parts of about 20 sets from 78-82 are in perfect condition, so are instructions,
all stickers applied in amazing condition. There is no 3062a in any color in
this lot.

This set was sold until the end of 1981. The only sets from 1981 having this
glass are 6382 and 6927 and both are alternate, i.e. appeared in these sets in
their later productions. So I suggest to remove them. Other than that, there
is no way I can find all copies of this sets and verified their glasses!
By the way, I have had about 4-6 of this set and they all came with 3062 Brick,
Round 1 x 1 hollow stud, and glass 3855a.

I just checked my own set that was originally bought new sealed and never mixed
with parts from other sets. My set has the glass with circle and round bricks
with open stud.

Thanks for checking.
Always amazed by your fixed comment "my own set that was originally bought
new sealed and never mixed with parts from other sets" that you comment on
for most vintage sets!

With this change you are trying to remove the glass without circle completely
from this set inventory?
All the used sets I checked have the dimples except one. But with this old sets
many used the BrickLink reference to complete them... So the snake bites itself...
Also the the hollow stud version in black does seem to have started appearing
in sets in 1979 but we can't rule out it came also with the solid one.
One way would be to accept this and only add the solid version with sealed set
data, or else let it hang in there but then we will never clear correctly its
lifespan.

Yes, I had forgotten to submit the removal of 3855 from the alternate section.
I just submit it.

I will submit more requests for other sets in regard to 3855 and 3855.

There are a few strategies to do in regard to 3062a/3062:
1) do not change any inventory for any set unless there is a 100% solid proof.
(what evidence can prove a variant never came with a given set? Answer: there
is no way to check all sets because we don't have all sold sets and they
are nearly all opened 50 years ago anyway!)
2) remove those variant in a set we can believe, based on some used/new copies,
that they should be removed.
3) Remove 3062a from all sets produced after 1979.
They all can potentially lead to errors/imperfections for the inventory of some
sets but I can tell the third approach is wrong because 3062a was still used
in certain colors for certain sets in 1979 and 1980, specially for some sets
sold in US and Canada.
As for this set, I have not seen 3062a in any used or new copy.
I wish old forum post were still available...
I don't think we would learn anything from old forum post.
