That's indeed the proper help page that tells all about the why and the naming,
but I don't see that OP's question is actually answered there. Maybe
it is obvious, but I am overlooking it.
With the same name registered on both sites, is there still anything to do on
our side?

It’s not totally automatic: you’ll have to choose the accounts to merge.
If your accounts share their nickname and/or email address, then the UI should
be able to propose the right account for you (I think; otherwise, you’ll have
to enter all the info yourself).
I had to delete my Lego Account and create a new one. Because I just kept getting
errors. I would have rather have lost my Lego points than lose my BrickLink account.
I looked up the issue on Google Gemini and it suggested this and it worked. I
create a new account on Lego.
1, I delete my original Lego Account
2, Created a New Lego Account
3, Opened BrickLink
4, Entered me new Lego details
5, Clicked 'Yes' to I have a BrickLink Account
Now Merged!
Before this I tried multiple times to merge my old Lego account with BrickLink,
but it never worked I just got server error.
My heart still in my mouth but I am set and my BrickLink data and store safe.
