In the last 2 weeks I've had envelopes rejected from 4 different Canada Post
locations in my area. All were simple packed items - essentially 2x4 bricks in
a thin cardboard sandwich (so they don't shuffle around) and then the whole
thing put into a bubble envelope.
Admittedly, they are snug when they go through the oversized slot due to the
bubbles (I have a slot tester at home), but they still slide through easily enough
because you know, smooshy air bubbles.
One nice staff member basically told me that if it's not sliding through
like butter they're not going to take it anymore. After 'failing'
my package the other 3 tried to do a hard sell to shipping it as a parcel even
though I said it was just the bubbles and I'd repack it.
Anyways, I was wondering if this was just bad luck in my area lately, or if others
might be having similar issues?

I don't know how you pack or at least pack those items but I remind anyway
that it is important to pack in a way the Lego bits or baggies inside don't
get jammed. I tape baggies together,... or use other technics.
Here, I have not had any bad experience like yours.

back when I shipped lettermail (recently switched to parcel only), most would
go thru fine, however some pakcages seemingly at random would get rejected, id
simply reship them out and it would arrive fine, it sounds like you had an employee
on a bad day (or a recent policy change).

I think she's taking about the retail counter staff, and I believe you (and
I) drop the letter in the mailbox avoiding any 'test' and for me they
always get through this way....

I have not had issues, and I send a ton of oversize lettermail. But I learned
long ago not to let the clerk at the Shopper's postal outlet check it through
the slot. Just weigh it yourself, (you have a scale don't you?) put the correct
postage on it, and drop it in the mail box yourself.

It's supposed to be able to "fall" through. If you need to pull it
through, then the package is thicker than 2cm.

There has been no specific recent communication about this from Canada Post,
but there might have been something from the local manager, reminding post offices
of the regulations.
Don't take the m to the outlet itself. Use stamps and put t hem in the mailboxes,
and not the ones just outside an outelt. Residential (red ones) ones work best.
