I'll jump on, now and then, sadly to read thoughts and opinions of the same
two dozen members
Now that I've pulled away from the BL forum (in part to let it grow as a
more free exchange of ideas and thoughts) to only find it yet more incestuous
in nature and still not divergennt of thought. What a lost cause BL has become
for me personally...

Too few that’s for sure.
It seems. Thanks
That is the fault of others that choose not to participate, not the fault of
those that choose to participate.
It might be best to question why others do not participate.
It may be that they have nothing to add to the topic (and that's ok),_or_
they don't feel embedded enough within the community to add their comment
in a public forum.
If this community wants to encourage contributions from people in the latter
category, making the entry as easy as possible is helpful.

There was a time Forum helped to build BrickLink, and a discussion like the one
about the weight in the cart would generate passionated 1000s of posts
There has been Suggestions also, many refused but also many implemented, one
way or the other.
People came also to discuss obscure parts recognition.
Or socialize here.
Nowadays?
* parts can be instantly recognized by brickognize.com
* files and inventory management can (should!) be done using brickstore.dev
* zero Suggestion has been implemented for 5 years or such (apart a couple bugs)
* theres no way to influence LEGO decisions on BrickLink using the forum, at
first we've no idea of what they're planning / doing, so...
* socialization may happen more 'naturally' through well known dedicated
networks.
Add to this that this forum has a year 2000 aspect, partly due to its link to
Catalog change requests. And this is SUPER dated for the recent generations.
Maybe Forum is like Feedbacks?
People now want to buy, are obliged to pay taxes, receive their order and that's
it.
Amazon-like?
So forget the Feedbacks, and probably forget the Forum.
Maybe it's good, maybe not. Because some will also forget BrickLink, and
that's not good.

Exactly.
There are a lot of new members who buy the parts or set they want and we don't
hear anymore after that. I have a few new members who have received their order,
but they have not completed it nor let any feedback.
It's sad. I like to have a bit of interaction between other people here.

Best Thing BL could do is just Slay this HORRIBLE Forum altogether. Its not useful
at all. Since they do not want to fix the spam right. Treat it like they did

Why is it a security risk? If you don't like it and think it is horrible
then don't use it. Others want to use it, why should they lose it because
you don’t like it?

I'm sure they'll get rid of it eventually because Lego hates allowing
freedom of expression on their platforms. But if they get rid of it, there won't
be any place on the platform to get help. (Bricklink's customer service definitely
isn't going to do it!)

Well, for all of you that rely on our Catalog, you should know that the Forum
supports that Catalog and has mechanisms that are built in to the entire process.
You can't turn off the Forum without rebuilding some of the Add or Change
system.
Also, the Forum and its Catalog processes are the way to grow new Catalog submitters.
If you've only ever been here to hang out, post sales, and look for (non-existant)
BL customer service, then you are missing a major function of this place.
I would guess that's also the reason the Forum has resisted change and not
been shut down by this or any previous BL ownership.

I think that due to the lack of customer service's timely response, this
forum is necessary. I might go so far as to say that they need this to answer
the "simple?" questions. I have appreciated answers that I have gotten
in regard to functions and parts. I feel some of the moderators are too harsh
or brusk or sarcastic but I admit that this might be due to cultural differences.
Most BrickLink members have been very helpful.

Tons of users have been using reddit instead. I'm not 100% sure why but
there are routinely posts there about what to do with an incorrect order and
whatnot. Lots of censorship over here that you don't get over there too.
Not just when it comes to posting scammers or problematic buyers/sellers
user names, but also just the simple act of cursing. I love cursing. I'm
kind of like the dad in A Christmas Story in that regard.
