Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some insight from fellow sellers and collectors.

I recently purchased a bulk lot that included an incomplete set of 5988 – Pharaoh’s
Forbidden Ruins. After sorting and inventorying the parts, I estimate it to be
about 80% complete, with most of the missing pieces being fairly standard.

I have the ability to complete the set using parts from my own inventory and
can also replace several discolored or yellowed bricks caused by age and sun
exposure. All replacement parts would be the correct part and color, just not
original to the set.

My question is:
Would completing the set this way significantly affect its resale value or desirability
in the eyes of buyers? Would it be frowned upon if clearly disclosed as a "completed"
set using authentic but non-original-to-this-set parts?

Any input or past experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Nobody knows which piece came in which set, unless that set has always been kept
isolated from other sets and not mixed. Plus any part, if appearing in multiple
sets, could easily have come in a different set if it had been picked in the
factory instead of another. There is no difference between that part and its
neighbour in the bin.

It is fine to rebuild sets and sell as complete, so long as the parts are correct
to the inventory / necessary to build the set.
