It would be really great to be able to merge wanted lists so you can amalgamate
them prior to making purchases.

You don’t need to merge WL in order to buy them.  You can select multiple WLs
on the left of the Buy page ((1) on first pic here: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2445
).

You can even pick / deselect individual lots from different WLs if you use the
Wanted Items tab (mark (2), same pic).

If you really need to merge WLs, you can awkwardly do it on the website by downloading
one and then uploading it into the other.
Or you can use BrickStore to manage your WLs.
